John Carpenter's original Halloween. Pretty much in a league of its own and probably among the top 3 greatest horror movies of all time.

Halloween II. A decent but grisly sequel, competently directed by Rick Rosenthal who has an eye for atmosphere. Lance Guest is a good actor, Donald Pleasence returning made it worthwhile and Jamie Lee with long blonde hair was a nice addition.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Interesting, original story and gloomy atmosphere & setting. Tom Atkins & Dan O'Herlihy were very good. Strange ending that didn't work, however, and the death scenes were too gruesome at times.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Basically went back to the style of the original, but with a distinct late 80s tone that made it fun to watch. Pleasence the king of the franchise returns. Ellie Cornell was good, as was Kathleen Kinmont's body. The ending was a really memorable one, nice touch.

Halloween H20. aka I Know What You Did Last Halloween in terms of its generic late 90s slasher style with zero atmosphere or tension.

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. Pretty unmemorable film. Can't remember a single thing about it.


Haven't seen any of the rest. The Zombie ones look total shit, just the pits.

Since it doesn't deal with the Michael Myers story, I won't rank Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982). Though it is a very interesting movie with a lot of atmosphere.

I refuse to even acknowledge (let alone rank) the Rob Zombie "films," if you can even call them that.
