What's Michael's initial obsession with Laurie?

shareMichael Myers is the personification of evil. No reason needed. He just saw somebody and enjoyed toying with them. There was no specific reason he picked Laurie.

Movies back then they didn't really think of long term and do movie deals so you know you have a set amount of films guaranteed otherwise I expect we would of seen a trilogy which was a lot different

Seriously, the randomnes of Michael choosing his victims made him more scary than the artificial sibling angle in the sequel. Its one of those unexplained things in the movie, like how Michael was able to drive a car.
