Sandy's change was her choice!

It was HER decision. People have moments in their life where they finally realize it's time to try something new and evolve. I myself have had dozens of those moments since High School. It was about discovering her sexuality and womanhood and letting loose. She was the one who asked Frenchie for "help" in her makeover. Danny and his friends helped her discover that. Whereas Danny intentially was going to change for her which is also admirable. Sandy didn't turn into a tramp, she became a woman. Danny would have loved her regardless of who she was.

GOOD FOR HER.

Moral of the story: Only be kind, affectionate, and loving when your stupid, shallow friends are nowhere to be around; and you have to change yourself into a person you are totally not in order to get your man. It's one of many reasons I hate this movie.

The way we dress also reflects on our behavior. We dress up to play a certain character.
Sandy wanted to adopt an identity that would help her be more confident in herself and her sexuality. I agree with many users here that it's probably not permanent change. Not everyday a young woman wear her blue prom dress or young man wear his rock shirt.

It's a stupid choice, one that's going to get her pregnant. They're both idiots, they probably think that a reused condom or a coca-cola douche was enough prevention.

The reason she wasn't in "Grease 2" was that once the credits rolled and she got knocked up, she had to drop out of Rydell High, and of course Danny was out of there the moment he heard the word "marriage". So a year later, Sandy's family was back in Australia, and Sandy didn't go out with the boys at her new school because she had to spend her evenings babysitting her new "baby brother".

And yeah, that's how people hushed up teen pregnancies in the mid 20th century.

Grease 2 was several years later. They'd graduated- the boys would have had the draft to worry about. Sandy had written to Frenchy (going back temporarily) about her cousin.
Oh - if Rizzo had avoided pregnancy, why not Sandy?

reply

Oh honey, Rizzoli got lucky.

Well, she got lucky that month, but doing things the way kids did back then... they'd have to get lucky *every* month!
