Does anyone else think this film is great?
I watched this film last night and thought it was great. My grandad said it was great so i bought it and loved it. Jack Nicholson was brill as usual and mary steenburgen was fantastic.

shareI think both leads were amazing and had great chemistry so that's what makes it brilliant and Jack is actually a decent director as well. The supporting cast is also brilliant.
shareI think both leads ... had great chemistry ...a good cast, funny script, but that doesn't make it a great film. I found it somewhat repetitive and long for a fairly simple western rom-com and wondered why we seemed to spend so long, for instance in the gold mine. I wonder whether a shorter film (90 - 95 minutes) might not have helped it achieve greater success upon its initial release. share

I just watched it for first time. I do not know why I never saw it before. An awesome movie. A bit like "Dirty Fungus McGee" with Frank Sinatra. Funny, funny. Did I say funny?
shareAbsolutely!! I LOVE the whole story, and the characters are developed extremely well. One thing in particular that I like about this movie is that the writers and director don't waste time when they want to get a point across. Many filmmakers could take fifteen or twenty minutes just to tell the audience about the "Ordinance" and another twenty minutes to kill off the first wife and another half hour to explain just exactly why Julia wanted Moon in the first place I.E. not just as a ranch hand. I love movies that move along.
sharejust saw it again after years, holds up well, mary is adorable
shareNicholson the director gives Nicholson the actor quite a free reign to ham it up and mug for the camera with abandon, but that's okay - the guy's watchable as ever and mostly pretty funny. Not a great film by any means, but certainly an entertaining and worthwhile one.
