Never needed any sequels or prequels.

This to me is a standalone film. All the sequels and prequels just feel like they are rehashing this movie over and over with lesser and lesser quality. This movie is a perfect example of sometimes less is more. They should stop milking this classic because none will ever hold a candle to this horror classic. Anyone agree?

The remake and it's prequel hold a candle to this, in fact they're probably superior.

Tobe Hooper's sequel is a different type of movie but is superb, a really fun gory horror-comedy. The world is a better place for it existing.

Too right

I agree (although how many movies do, really?). I've certainly seen some (not sure how many) of the others, but for me they don't come close to this or enhance it it any way.

Agreed.

None will ever be as good as the original.
