Perfect Great Gatsby Cast:

Daisy-Naomi Watts-- would be PERFECT! (sounds weird but watch King Kong)

Gatsby- Ryan Gosling (He has the ability to play a multi-emotioned, very deep character.)

Nick Carraway- Adrien Brody (He is awesome at playing the sort of blandness necessary for this character)

Jordan Baker- Nikki Reed. (She is amazing at playing the part of a suave beautiful woman.)

Tom Buchanan- Tom Welling (Great at being a manly man)

Myrtle- Emily Blunt? She kind of has that pretty but not too pretty thing going on.

Good call with these! Tobey Maguire is indeed set to play Nick Carraway in Baz Luhrmann's 2013 adaptation.

You should be a casting director ;)

I think a lot of what you listed really would be perfect!
Except if Tom Welling was Tom it would ruin everything for me, I'd instead replace him with Luke Wilson.
And while I would love to see Adrien Brody as Nick, I think someone younger and less aged looking like Colin Hanks would be better.

i really like the idea of emile hirsch as nick.ed norton may even be a good choice for him as well.i think matt damon would make a good tom;he did a good job playing characters with similar traits in "the departed" and "the good shepard".and i do see naomi watts as the perfect daisy.

Is it just me, or does Sam Waterston (who plays Nick) look kinda like Steve Carell in this film? (Obviously Sam does not look like Steve now...)

I think the last one mentioned would be too old for the characters.

I just second Scarlett Johanson for the role of Jordan, don't know why, but I always saw her before my eyes when I read the book the last three days. I think she would suit it perfectly. Natalie Portman would be a nice Daisy though.

These are the actors I would pick for the main characters, as they pop into my head. In no particular order.

Meyer Wolfsheim: Željko Ivanek, fits perfectly.

Daisy Buchanan - Charlize Theron/Naomi Watts, blonde and beautiful? I believe so. Watch Monster!

Tom Buchanan - Thomas Hayden-Church, big, buff, and he definitely was the first actor I thought of when I thought of Tom Buchanan.

Jay Gatsby - Hugh Jackman, for some reason I just see this match working. Heath Ledger if he was still alive.

Jordon Baker - Catherine Zeta-Jones/Julia Roberts, I see Jordon as a brunette with class. That leans more towards Zeta-Jones.

Nick Carraway - Robert Downey, Jr., if he can still act like he did in Chaplin, he'd be perfect.

Daisy: Naomi Watts - PERFECT.
Gatsby: Ryan Gosling - I agree, he would do the part justice...but he's not old enough!
Nick - Are you sure you're not just saying Adrien because he looks like the guy in THIS movie...? Honestly I think Ryan Gosling would make a good Nick.
Hmm, Jordan Baker...Nicole Kidman. Before you FREAK OUT...think about it. It'd work.
Tom - I don't really care. haha.
Myrtle - What are your views on Toni Collette? She's pretty but she's not...and she would DEFINITELY rock the part out!

Here's my cast:

Daisy - Naomi Watts (is there really any other choice? Everything about her just embodies Daisy Buchanan)

Jay Gatsby - Aaron Eckhart (cuz when he puts on all the fancy clothes, it will be clear that he's overcompensating. Eckhart cleans up nice, but he has a natural rugged look that you can't hide, which I think is a lot like Gatsby)

Nick Carroway - James McAvoy (because he's charming without being too sweet)

Jordan Baker - Maggie Gyllenhaal (not that attractive and spunky = Jordan)

Tom Buchanan - John Hamm (a very manly man)

Myrtle Wilson - Sienna Miller (I think she'd be able to portray her accurately but with a certain level of sympathy)
