Totally freaking hilarious show. Fred used the n word numerous times. He wanted to stick Aunt Esther's face in dough and make some gorilla cookies. He constantly went after Julio, their Puerto Rican neighbor. When "Lamont Goes African", he referred to all of Lamont's African artifacts as "jungle junk".
Fred would never be accepted in today's world of delicate feelings. Is Sanford and Son next to be yanked off the airwaves?
Black people are MOSTLY immune to canceling. Mostly.

That didn't work out so well for Cosby! I wasn't a huge fan of his show, but I thought audiences could distinguish between Cliff Huxtable and Bill Cosby. Didn't think it needed to be yanked off the air.

"White cops in the sky"...I recall an early episode when Fred pretended to be robbed to cover up the fact that he broke some of Lamont's figurines.
The white cop asked him if the perpetrators were colored and Fred said, "Yeah, white!"
In the very first episode Lamont came home with something he bought from an old white woman.
Fred said that there's nothing uglier than an old white woman.
Those were the days when audiences could laugh at silly stuff and insults and not cry and have their feelings hurt.

S&S was a great show, and had both black and white audiences laughing in the '70s. In general, people were more intelligent and mature back then. It would make woke heads explode today, but most of those empty skulls belong to college-age white people, ironically.

In an episode where Lamont goes to court to fight a traffic ticket, Fred goes along as his lawyer. The exchange between Fred and the arresting officer, a white cop, is hilarious. But some "offensive' dialogue is cut. I have the first three seasons on DVD, so I don't have to put up with TV censorship.
I never watched the whole series just odd re-runs. It was probably censored back then too. It sounds like a hilarious scene.

TVLand pulled Roseanne out of syndication because she made some comment which supposedly hurt some delicate feelings. She was also fired from The Connor Family.
