This movie really should be remade... who would be a good cast?

With our more indepth knowledge of the human anatomy and the inner wonders and workings of the human body, combined with the nearly infinite possibilities afforded by the advances in special fx, CGI, et al, I think that Fantastic Voyage would be a PRIME candidate for a remake.

I mean, how many old and crummy 70's TV shows can they redo into movies? And for cryin' out loud, we're getting a movie of Fat Albert??? They're talking about a big-screen version of "F Troop"???? They are remaking movies that just came out in the late 70's or 80's... come on, folks, let's take a look at some of the promising SciFi flicks of the 1960's and imagine the possibilities!

Of course, if they were to remake it, I'm sure that Hollywood would probably ruin it anyway. The effects would be great but they'd put in somebody like Reese Witherspoon or (shudder) Jennifer Lopez to play the role of Cora Peterson. Vin Diesel would be Grant... or maybe Keanu Reeves. (Major shudder)

Who do you think would be a good cast?

Yeah I agree don't normally like the idea of remakes but this is one of those 'great but broken films that need fixing'.

As for the actors, not sure, they are all pretty basic characters and you could get anyone to play them really, even unknowns. But the perfect director to remake it would be-

DAVID CRONENBERG.

This is JUST his kind of thing its scientific and focuses primarily on the human body.

In fact I'm just gonna go nip off now and write a remake script and send it to his home address.

Hollywood can kiss my assssss!!!!

Sorry, but Raquel Welch ain't broken to me!!

No. No remake on this one. The original actually used huge soundstages as big as two football fields. With a new one, everything would be CGI-rendered, thus we would get no real feel of depth.

Let's start with finding the best director, which I think would be James Cameron. He's good at making large scale sci fi epics, knows how to work underwater (take out the red blood cells and it's a lot like sea water), and could provide enough action to distract you from how impossible all this is. A nice twist in casting might be to have the crew to be all women except for the attractive but dumb male assistant.

Cameron had been planning on remaking the movie for some time but now he'll just be producing the remake rather than directing

Remakes on the whole IMHO suck........

Films like this don't need a remake.

Look at other classics that have been RUINED by remakes

The Day The Earth Stood Still for instance. The original is great and didn't need to be changed but no...... Not good enough for Holly wood who have run out of ideas......

They remade that with Keanu Reeves......And the whole movie sucked...... Sucked, and sucked some more..... it was painful to watch.

Great another 3D film...........

As much as I don't feel there needs to be a remake, it's interesting to speculate on how characters would be cast nowadays.

Firstly, the actress who plays Cora can't be a stick insect like Keira Knightley. This film is famous for putting Raquel Welch into a white wetsuit.

Eva Mendes or Odette Yustman might do well.

Or British actress Gemma Atkinson, eh? eh?.

As for the male crew members;

Grant: Gerard Butler
Duval: Hugo Weaving or Frank Langella
Owens: Simon Pegg
Michaels: Kevin Spacey

BTW that was sarcasm......... 3D films don't work for me

Actually, it was sort of "re-made", more like "ripped off" by the movie Innerspace

reply

At least Innerspace had some pretty realistic innards. Gave us a chance to see it like that. I have a feeling a movie today since it's so reliant on cgi might look worse.

I bet you boys would STILL want Rachel Welch be Cara! And she could still pull it off!
