OMG! The funniest scene EVER...

I am watching the movie at this very moment, but i had to post this.

the funniest scene in this movie is definitely the elevator scene in the united world building, where batman read's the sign next to the "up" button in 7 different languages before he figured out that it's the "up" button... now that's comedy!

and now?

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

reply

I only saw the beggining of this movie but I didn' know it was supposed to be a comedy. I just thought it was a God awful attempt at an action adventure film! >>> The prize goes to you my friend...the ONE person who didn't get it.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

Don't forget during the "bomb" scene, the recurring Salvation Army band playing Bringing In The Sheaves. I love the very slight impatience Batman shows at times during this sequence, as though he's thinking "For God's sake, they're only DUCKS! But still, I'd better not!"

Also, all those clearly marked items in the Batcave - we've never noticed them before and we'll never see them again! Next time there'll be a whole new range of clearly marked items, fit for whatever the dynamic duo's purpose is at that time!

I thhink it was Burt who said that the prop guys loved seeing how many things they could label.

I also agree with an earlier poster who said that the commentary is fabulous, I loved it. It was fun hearing Adam and Burt laughing at different scenes! And their stories were great.

reply

1. when the "noble porpoise" hurled itself in front of the torpedo

2. the dramatic music that plays after Batman realizes that Kitka is Catwoman

L.M.A.O.

edit: and of course the shark scene (that there is also repelant for whales...LOL), and at the end when they are like "let's leave inconspicuously, through the window on our batropes", you know instead of just going out the door that is RIGHT BEHIND YOU.

LOL this movie is classic...

Upon discovering the woman that Bruce had fallen for was none other than the villianous cat woman Robin sums it up with "Holy Heartbreak Batman".

with the French song playing in the background...so moving...so poignant...so hilarious.

I love that scene at the end when Batman says that the swapping of the brains 'might just be the greatest thing we've ever done for humanity' but never explains why. Then they make an 'inconspicous' exit by jumping out the window... I love this film - so funny and yet so wrong.

reply

I loved the villains riding on those weird broomstick type devices. And that they never explained just what they were.

There is a throway line where they mention that they are the Penguin's jetpack umbrellas.

I love the way Catwoman meows while riding one.

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

reply

Then you'll love her same "ecstasy meow" while peering through the submarine's periscope in a later scene.

reply

Yes, another great comedy moment. This film is full of them, in fact I don't think there's one scene I can't find something funny in.

One part I love which often gets overlooked, is when at the "United World" building, Batman is reading the languages on the elevator, they all say "Up" but he doesn't press the button until he reads the English version!

"Up...up...up....up...up...up...UP!!"

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

reply

Those are clearly umbrellas they are riding.

They crack me up every time. So ridiculous.

Undoubtedly another diabolical invention from the Penguin to go along with his gas-spewing umbrellas.

reply

The funniest scene has to be Batman running around with the bomb.

reply

I love the bomb and shark scenes, but now I just reel over the absurdity of Penguin managing to have a whole submarine shipped to his PO Box.

reply

P.N. Gwynne. I love that alias. Very clever.

reply

I love the fact that Robin is always a few seconds behind Batman in figuring out these things.

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

reply

Well Batman heard it first on the phone and just said the name out loud to Robin so he would cop it, too.

reply

If you watch carefully, Robin is always 2 seconds behind Batman in figuring these things out.

When Batman says out loud

"You sold the submarine to a chap called P.N. Gwynne" you can tell by his face he's already figured it out.

Robin says it out loud, thinks for a second and then exclaims it's the Penguin!

It's why Robin is Robin and Batman is Batman!

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

reply

Robin doesn't say P.N. Gwynne aloud. He just says The Penguin when Batman says the alias aloud.

reply

Are you sure? I will have to rewatch the scene.

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

reply

Very sure. Batman says out loud P.N. Gwynne and then Robin says "The Penguin!" and Batman then continues with his conversation to the Admiral.

reply

Watched it again last night and you're right of course. Still, I like the pauses Robin gives before he blurts out the answers.

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

reply

That's how it usually goes with them. That was just one time where Robin was on the ball. Although it wasn't a hard alias to figure out lol.

reply

I prefer the scene where Batman has to ditch the bomb, right down to the ducks quacking before his historic comment...

But the up button scene is on par, as is Adam West's line to the criminals to stop... great stuff!

reply

Surrender!!! You......criminals!!!!!

"But it happened at sea! See? C for Catwoman!!"

reply

Sorry but I loved the Shark scene "ROBIN! Hand me down the Shark repelling bat spray!" xD I loved it. Then when it exploded I had to pause it so I could stop laughing!

reply

Agree the shark scene is a classic.

reply

I like the fact the other batsprays are Barracuda, Manta Ray, and Whale. How did he develop a batspray to repel a whale???

As with Jaws, the shark looked fake.

No ticket!

But in this instance, it was intentional. When Batman hits it, you can hear a loud cardboard thud!!!

It also now a famous iconic scene for Batman fans lol.

reply

As is the scene when Batman says 'somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb!!'

Agree that scene is brilliant lol.

reply

Toward the end, Batman says solemnly "Prepare to rehydrate," as if it is some complex procedure.

Robin connects a hose to a spigot and says, "Ready to rehydrate."

Also, the "United World" delegates at the end:
The American is speaking Japanese.
The Japanese and the Frenchman are speaking English.
The Nigerian is speaking Spanish.
The Englishman is speaking Russian.
The Russian is speaking German.
The German is speaking Hebrew.
The Israeli is speaking French.
And I think the Spaniard is speaking an African language.
