I am watching the movie at this very moment, but i had to post this.
the funniest scene in this movie is definitely the elevator scene in the united world building, where batman read's the sign next to the "up" button in 7 different languages before he figured out that it's the "up" button... now that's comedy!
Bat-man is running around the docks with the giant bomb in his hands, trying to throw it away. BUT! There's nuns! Turn around. BUT! There's baby ducks! Go somewhere else. BUT! There's a baby carriage. Turn around. BUT! Oh yeah, nuns, again.
"Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
Classic moment.
If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in college.
Love that scene. Funny thing, I was listening the radio earlier and this one song came on by band called Creedence Clearwater Revival titled "Looking out my back door" and there certain beats in that song that reminded of whatever tune that band was playing in that Batman bomb scene, could even be the same tune, who knows.
haha i used to watch this when i was younger and i recorded it, and that part with the porpose OMg that was crazy, it swam in fornt of the torpedo, how great
~You shut the hell up, Jackie-Boy. You're dead. I'm just imagining this, so shut the hell up~
The porpoise hurling himself at a torpedo is NOT funny! Batman did NOT beat the shark with a fish. He used his fist, then his boot. Not fish. Watch the movie more closely.
Robin: But what if the Riddler stays true to hiw words? Batman: Then I'll bash him BRUATALLY.
Me and my brother nearly wet our pants. Also any seen where they figure a riddle out. Fictitious Example: Rainbow... Rain rhymes with pain... bow.. My God! They're going to cause pain with bow and arrows!
Admiral: We haven't done anything foolish, have we? Batman (grimly): Disposing a pre-atomic submarine to persons who don't even leave their full addresses?
One of mine would definately be the "Holy Polaris!" scene...Robin's delivery of that line was just too perfect, it was hilarious.
I also love it when Batman's running all through town with the bomb over his head and he keeps running into people as to why he can't get rid of it and he finally says "Somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb".
It's also funny when they're climbing the wall and Batman attributes what the locals might see to being drunk, and a drunk sees them and goes nervously, "You're right honey, there WAS somebody going up the wall".
And, it's a very brief scene but I LOVE when the Joker gets between the Penguin and the Riddler and zaps them both with his handbuzzers.
I was surprised Kitka could keep a straight face. In the evil and vain mind of Catwoman, however, she undoubtedly was supremely smug over her easy conquest of Wayne.
Catwoman could easily conquest just about any male. The way she slithers, wriggles and lounges about on that submarine in skintight & shiny lurex, all hands surely have had evil thoughts cross their minds.
Either the fact that their drinking fountain had a 'danger' setting, or the scene where they decide all 4 villains are involved: "The attack happened at sea. Sea! C for Catwoman" "Of course, it all adds up to a sinister riddle. er. Riddler?"
The bomb scene is just EPIC! Also the dialogue between Batman and the admiral when he asks if someone has bought a nuclear submarine lately. "You don't sell a nuclear submarine to someone who doesn't leave his address". I almost wet my pants when I heard that one.
That shark scene is comedic genius. Saw the movie for the 1st time since being a kid, the other day. That shark must've been what Speilberg was petrified his Jaws shark'd appear like on screen... Absolutely, sublimely, absurd beyond comprehension. A classic lolz
I ALWAYS crack up when the Joker completly owns the Riddler unitentionnaly with a chair in the fight scene where Bruce Wayne escapes by the window. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wd_nhICGCNs&feature=related Here's the link to the video, it's at 1:20 . Riddler gets it pretty bad! XD

The Burton movie (and sequels) might be closer to the dark and gloomy world of the comic, but the 60s cult series (and especially this movie) are just hilariously cheesy. This is camp at its very best...
I have to agree with the OP. I just finished watching the movie and the elevator scene with Batman reading the word "up" in several languages before understanding it in English cracked me up. Especially since he was in a huge hurry to save the United World guys. I'm still chuckling about it.
Although, I take it that Batman is so OCD'd that he not only knows each language, but simply must translate each variant in sequence before pressing the button.
Dude's whack, as they say.
(This is posted for entertainment. Don't get upset.)
Few things caught me funny: - everything in the Batcave is labeled ... - the Commodore deeply sniffing the "sea air" while the foghorn blows (that foghorn sound effect is usually used in cartoons when things stink to high heaven) - the empty, rubber, hollow sound the shark makes when Batman punches it
Just watched it again recently and for the first time I noticed the Penguin say, "Careful, careful, every one of them's got a mother." while they're collecting the de-hydrated pirates and I just started cracking up. As if Penguin needs to point out this fact to make the situation MORE dangerous and devious! Not only were pirates de-hydrated but they each had mothers to boot! *GASP!*
Fooey to those who don't "get" satire & silliness. I think the brilliant comedy relief of this classic has aged a heckuva lot better than anything I watched while growing up in the 80's.
Haha, I LOVE that line! It sounds kind of ad-libbed to, just sort of off-the-cuff, which makes it even funnier! "Careful... every one of them's got a mother."
Most people mentioned my other favourite lines/parts. The bit when they "figure out" the riddles is great. Oh come on, Sea for Catwoman!? You just pulled that one out of thin air! At least the "pulling your leg" bit had SOME method to it!
Everytime I play Arkham Asylum on X-Box and Batgirl is talking to me on my commlink about Joker's plans and asks what I'm going to do, I say "I'll bash. Him. Brutally..."
Of course "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb" is my fav though.
Here's one no-one has mentioned; "Ohhh, I close my eyes and envision those two mighty cossacks, RACING accross the rooftops on their way to dispense rough justice!" "How strange... I close... MY eyes, and see something... quite... as-TONISHINGLY different!" X0D
On a related note, has anyone seen 'Return to the Batcave: the Misadventures of Adam and Burt'? Anyone who likes the old TV show would do well to look for this movie. It's like a biopic about the making of the TV show, built around the framework of Adam West & Burt Ward solving a real-life mystery (the Batmobile has been stolen). So they have to have flashbacks to think of any information relevant to the case. As well as a really enjoyable document on the rise & fall of the show, the Adam & Burt stuff is written JUST like one of their old episodes! (e.g:- They find a riddle; a picture of an elephant, on which is written "What do I always do?" Burt: "An elephant always NEVER FORGETS!" Adam "Always... never... forgets! The ONLY POSSIBLE answer!")
Yes! Just watched it on Youtube last week. I was impressed by how tastefully it was done. On one hand the "present day" scenes with Adam & Burt were good ol' fun, over-the-top cheese in the spirit of the series. On the other hand, you could tell the flashbacks were made with a lot of nostalgia and care. Dare I say the bits about Adam & Burt's struggle with relationships were even rather touching?
It certainly made me more curious about the stories behind the show. I'm going to check out Adam's self-produced "Adam West Naked" DVD as soon as possible. This thread contains a preview of it. It looks wonderfully candid. http://www.66batman.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1219639585
There are soooooo many classic moments in this movie... but upon re-viewing it for the first time in a while (with my 6 year old son, who loved it by the way) I have a new favorite scene:
During the big fight on the deck of the submarine towards the end, Catwoman throws the little black cat she's been carrying around at Batman. He catches it, then spends another minute or two fighting off various goons with the cat tucked under his arm. Finally he places the cat in a life boat and says "Bon Voyage, Pussy."
BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! That is comedy GOLD!!
Batman: ...Let's go, but, inconspicuously, through the window. We'll use our Batropes...
and
Robin: Wow! Let's commandeer a taxi! Batman: No, Robin. Not at this time of day. Luckily, we're in tip-top condition. It'll be faster if we run. Let's go!
The delivery of such absurdity with a straight face was absolutely perfect.
I must confess, I never caught the elevator scene.
My two favourites were the bit with the REALLY fake shark and the classic bomb scene.
BTW, if you want even more laughs, you should watch it with the Audio Commentary with Adam West and Burt Ward. It's worth the price of the DVD on its own. LOL
Shark scene, especially: "Hand me down the Shark-Repellent Bat-Spray!"
Also:
"I'll bash...him...brutally..." "You filthy criminals!" When Batman says: "Clever enough to outwit you, you stupid thugs." It sounds just like he's saying "Clever enough to outwit you, you stupid fv(k." Hilarious movie.
"I'm not peeking, I'm spelunking for pork rinds." Michelangelo - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3
Why, the criminals' individual mug shots, of course! Right after Batman asks Commissioner Gordon which super criminals are at large right now. What kind of pictures are those??? It's obvious that they're just stills from the movie. I laughed so hard when I realized those were supposed to be their mug shots!
