What would you give up Trek wise for 2 extra seasons of TOS?

We're talking 2 extra seasons of TOS (seasons 4 and 5 filmed in 69/70/71) Roddenberry coming back to oversee, plus Gene Coon, DC Fontana , Lucas, Justman etc .. About 52 episodes including more Klingons, Romulans, time travel, sequels to various eps (more Mudd, Gary? Charlie? Gorn? Guardian? Mirror-verse? Khan?*) and a final ep of the Enterprise returning home (*maybe not as wouldn't want to jeopardise TWOK in 82)

In exchange for that wed have to be talking a pretty big price Trek wise*.. I don't just mean like 2 seasons of Voyager, im talking the ENTIRETY of Voyager and ALL of DS9, and perhaps a couple of Trek movies as well (TFF and Insurrection lol). Think id leave Enterprise as liked s3/4 (might've been more had there been no excessive 90s Trek)

*How it works is everything in exchange gets erased from history including your own memory so in my case DS9/VOY would be gone and itd be as if i or anyone had never have seen them (I haven't anyway mostly lol) then I go order TOS season 4/5 blurays or P+ (or maybe they just magically appear in my existing TOS blu sets) and binge watch all 52 eps

I'd give up these sacrifices on the Altar of Star Trek Reform in exchange for 2 more seasons of TOS:

- Alex Kurtzman's smoking corpse
- the burnt remains of Secret Hideaway Studios
- the last remnants of the Discovery sets after they were burned down and demolished
- every model of the USS Discovery ever made
- every prop and costume ever used on the show
- every computer hard drive with data on the show, including recorded stuff, outtakes, scripts, memos, etc.
- the heads of every sad-ass member of his Discovery Cast, except Doug Jones
- every dollar ever wasted on making that show
- the head of the Paramount Studio executive who allowed Kurtzman an extension on his contract
- JJ Abram's ass
- the burnt remains of Bad Reboot Studios
- the demolished remains of the Picard show sets
- all known computer data on the Picard show
- the heads of all the female actors on the Picard show except Alison Pill
- the scripts from "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," "Star Trek V," and "Nemesis"

I hadn't considered any of nu Trek, but I guess an additional exchange for s4/5 of TOS would be ALL of DISCO (but leave SNW as is), the goofy/kiddie animated shows, the crappy Beyond movie (have the Orci ST3 with Shatner instead), and Picard s1/2 (just have s3 lol)

So for me that be ALL of DS9/VOY, ALL of DISCO, the new animated shows (may as well throw in the original TAS too as that'd be incorporated into s4/5 of TOS), s1/2 of Picard, and 2 movies (1 from TOS and TNG)

Therefore my Trek timeline would be TOS s1-5 (1966-71), TNG s1-7, Ent s1-4 (maybe s5 and more?), 11 movies (5 TOS - minus TFF/3 TNG - minus Ins/3 Kelvin - Orci/Shatner ST3 instead of Beyond), Picard (s3 only with TNG crew) and SNW

Why the FUCK do you want to get rid of DS9? It's considered the best Trek series of the 1990s, by a great many people! And Voyager is a personal favourite of mine, too!

reply

I got no real beef with DS9 but to me its when Trek became less about the 'original' Trek (which sort of incorporates TNG) to 'spin off' Trek as it was like a spin off of a spin off really, same with VOY even more so, and I just couldn't get into either and I did try.. So for me it would be worth getting rid of all of them (and most of the new shows) in sacrifice for having another 2 magical seasons of 'original' TOS Trek 😊

reply

Why "get rid" of stuff YOU may not personally like AT ALL? Not everyone likes what YOU like, Bozo!

reply

Look, its just imaginary. Its not going to happen no matter how hard I try 😆

reply

I wouldn't be too sure about that. You may not really wish it to happen personally, but I bet that, once every movie and TV show is on streaming and DVDs/Blu-rays are a thing of the past, some powerful people may want to eradicate old TV shows that don't fit in with their agendas.

took me a while to get used to the voices and actors, but, yes, I wish they could have kept making these. so much love when into it, and it worked

reply

Everything else. All the other shows, all the other movies. I have seen everything else (excluding the last year or so) and did enjoy most of it but nothing compares to TOS.

reply

Wow everything. I couldn't do that. The movies? , TNG?. Its too big a sacrifice

If I had to give up more to what I already did above maybe I could stretch it to getting rid of a couple of seasons of TNG (like 2 seasons worth of duff eps). And maybe another movie (TMP or NEM)

reply

Methinks bozo_500 despises DS9 and VOY, somehow.

You forgot to mention Abrams/Kurtzman Trek, which is not even Star Trek but a horrible perversion of it.

Tell you what, bozo_500: Wipe out the Abrams Kelvin Timeline movies, Discovery (STD), Picard and Lower Decks to make more TOS, and I'm all for it. BUT, leave all of the 1990s Star Trek alone!

reply

Oh, and this:

"Roddenberry coming back to oversee"

Roddenberry is TOXIC to everything Star Trek, it was the OTHER writers that made it.

Roddenberry's presence is what fucked up The Motion Picture.
Roddenberry's presence is also what fucked up Seasons 1 and 2 of The Next Generation.

Those times he was removed as showrunner, was the best thing for the show. Somehow, in his presence, non-TOS Trek was AWFUL!

reply

I am well aware of the grievances many have with Roddeneberry (and i kind of liked the early TNG) , but I'd still have him there overseeing the others. Remember he wasn't involved at all with s3 and look how that turned out..

reply

Yeah, better TNG.

reply

Nothing. I think TOS was already out of gas and wasn't going to get any better. One of the few show cancellations I actually would have signed off on.

reply

Agreed. TOS had some ridiculously stupid ideas in episodes by Season 3, and as a sci-fi concept it had definitely run out of steam at that point, not even the resident seasoned sci-fi writers could save it by then.

reply

I think the aesthetics and attitudes of the 70s would have changed the show as well. TOS exists in a perfect little pocket of time before the world started changing.

reply

Id still do it for the inevitable several classic episodes amongst the 2 seasons of longer hair, bigger sideburns, more flamboyant flared uniforms

reply

All it needed was a bigger budget. Stop reusing sets from movies about Earth's past.

And someday (soon) we will be able to make more episodes of the original series, using AI and CGI, that are indistinguishable from authentic episodes.

reply

I'd give up all post-TOS Trek for another two seasons of TOS.

reply

Im torn, but nah couldn't give up the movies damnit

reply

Wow even Riker? No way Riker could be sacrificed for 2 more seasons of TOS. He’s worth at least 3.

reply

If it were made by todays standards using 1970s timeline they would be wearing bell bottoms and visiting a planet where the leader had been caught misleading the people in an incident known as WaterDoor. And this corrupt Hitlarian like leader would be known as Nixoff.

The producers would of course insist there were no political undertones and it was a complete coinkidink. No one would watch and they’d blame the audience.
