Now, before anyone attacks me for the above post title, let me say that I love this show. Always have.
But Robert Conrad, years ago in an interview, said that this show was technically a science fiction western spy spoof.
And he should have known.

Nowadays they would call it steam punk. It takes place in a western setting but it is mostly scifi. It is sort of like a Jules Vernes story.

it shows up now and then on one of the free western tv channels. always throws me for a loop. fits better with Lost in Space than it does Gunsmoke. i think it's the same channel that shows Brisco County Jr. anything with a horse i guess.
