Well, some people eat for comfort. I watch older shows like Andy Griffith…just fun and simple stories. These episodes never grow old and I laugh at the same lines. I can’t even begin to count how many times I’ve viewed these episodes. LOL
shareComfort is no small deal to many people. The stress factor is real low and the envy factor is quite high. Perfect example is the episode Man in a Hurry. The people of Mayberry were not obligated to do one thing on Sunday other than for those who attended church. For most people today Sunday is just another day to try and get one up in the world. Back in 1963 Mr Tucker would have seemed like the odd one to most Americans and in 2022 Andy and Barney sitting on the porch deciding whether to go get a bottle of pop would seem like the odd ones.

shareI absolutely love this show. When I was younger it use to be the lead in to WCW Monday Nitro on TNT. I didn't really watch it then as (at the time) It seemed dated to me. However, in 2022 it's a breath of fresh air, and comforting to know that at one point in time out country (and entire world for that matter) wasn't so completely f'd up. And, like you I have now seen many of the episodes multiple times, and I laugh at all the same lines over and over again. Where I live (Long Island) it airs every night on both MeTV and Cozi TV.
share I'll always love this show too! There was no one funnier than Barney Fife. Barney and Andy were a great comedy team. Opie was a sweet kid and funny too.
I also laugh at the same episodes over and over. Sometimes I just like to see characters with nice, old fashioned values. The characters were decent people , loved their town and even went to church.
Andy was a great friend to Barney and never deliberately embarrassed him when he royally screwed up police procedure. Barney was hilarious when he, single and childless, gave Andy his "expert" advice on women, marriage and childrearing.
