i split movies into 2 catergories because you can't compare old movies and new movies. they have different styles. i have not seen many older movies so my first list will most likely change.

1930-1970
1. the Planet of the apes
2. on the waterfront
3. white heat
4. singin in the rain
5. west side story
1970-2010
1. the departed
2. gladiator
3. taxi driver
4. the godfather
5. pulp fiction
