time to re make 'Rebel Without a Cause'

James Franco as Jim, Anne Hathaway as Judy, and Mark Indelicato as Plato.

You want to remake the Mona-Lisa too, huh?

reply

If you watch most teen films in the years since RWaC, you'll notice that they've remade it a whole lot of times.

I agree! "Are you nuts???!"
If it ain't broke - don't fix it!

This:

applies to Rebel Without a Cause, as well as other movies made during that general period.

What a stupid post! Sorry, but it is. "Rebel" is a classic, and a classic doesn't need to be remade. Besides, James Franco may have played Dean once, but he's no Dean. Besides, he's freaking old now. He can't play Dean anymore, anyway. Anne Hathaway isn't nearly as attractive as Natalie Wood was and I don't even know who the hell the original poster suggested for Plato.

reply

This movie has been remade over and over again. Different names, slightly different stories, but same premiss and message.

reply

If remade they would have the obligatory 3some scene that the 50s film could only allude to. Nowadays there is always a trick ending where Plato and Jim are one and the same. Jim breaks with reality and creates a needy, submissive version of himself to care for.

reply

uh why?

reply

I love James Franco. . . but no. This movie is a classic. Production companies have to stop trying to save money and actually find a new story worth telling. Everyone's so preoccupied with making 'a quick buck'. Keep the classics classic.

& Anne Hathaway really doesn't need to be in a new movie. Have you watched any of her recent films? She's mediocre at best. I think she's way over hyped right now.

What a great idea!!!

JIM STARK (to his father):
Yo, pops... why you be dissin' me? You wearin' a apron and actin' like a little bitch. Put that ho you call your wife in her place and go upside her head!

Dat's right... I'm a rebel without a cause! (you really need to explain things these days)

Cheers...

Yeah, but it would have to be done right

Actually i saw a stage production of Rebel Without A Cause a couple of years back. The guy who played James Stark was Michael Brando. Marlon's grandson i gotta say i was skeptical in the start because i though the part belonged to James Dean and no one could play it, but i ate my words that guy was great he even lookslike James Dean but played the part different.

There was a rumor around that they signed Michael Brando to star in the remake not sure how thats going but i think if anyone could do it its this guy, and id def. go to and see it when it comes out.

reply

well if Michael Brando is anything like young Marlon Brando, IMO perfect casting.

I don't usually like to see classics like that re-made, but this could be pretty interesting, cause the idea and message of rebel without a cause stands very true nowadays, and could get updated a little bit.

reply

i dont think they should touch the version that Jimmy Dean did.

Dont get me wrong im a huge Brando fan- both Marlon Brando and Michael Brando- I have seen Michael Brando's hamlet on stage, and yes- he is great- i would go far as to say that he is beyond great. but if this does happen they should either do the original version that his grandfather was supposed to do, or re-adapt the concept to fit it to more recent times.
