Fans of the movie- How old are you?

I hope I'm not coming off as creepy or anything haha. But I'm just curious. I'm 17 and I've been watching this movie over and over throughout my life. My mom introduced it to me when I was about 3 or 4 years old. It's remained one of my all time favorites. I think I've seen this movie more times than any other.

I just watched it again on TCM which prompted my visit to this site. I'm 53 and memory says that I saw the series before I watched the film. I can say for sure that it remains one of my all-time favorites.

I'm male and 60 years old, and have loved this film since my first viewing at 25; but by then, Joseph L. Mankiewicz had been among my favorite directors for seven years already. (And while the TV series did not interest me in childhood, I had read before I saw it that the original movie was nothing like that broadly played, low-wit sitcom.) This is one of my favorite Mankiewicz titles which he did not also write.

My younger sister can't watch the film again because of how sad she feels when the glass of milk drops from Lucy's hand. However, I cry most often during the kitchen conversation between Lucy and grownup daughter Anna, as we discover that a) Anna as a child had also known and loved Captain Gregg; and b) Lucy believes he never existed. Oh, such a waste of decades -- and how exquisite Bernard Herrmann's music is for that poignant sequence!

Most great films deserve a more appreciative audience than they get.

I'm almost 63 and am watching the movie on TCM right now. I have no idea when the first time was; I'm sure I was only about 8 or 9. Since then, I've watched it many times on TV and nearly every time it has aired on TCM. It must be near to the "century mark"; I've seen more films than I can list 100+ times each, and this one might be on the list or nearly there. I know that, in recent years, I've likely seen it at least three times or more, depending on TCM.

I'm not sure why I never videotaped it except that I have thousands of taped movies, most of which are rarer. If I know films are readily available, I generally do not tape them unless I'm a devotee.

Yes, I also watched the TV series. Edward Mulhare was wonderful! My sister and I developed such a crush on him and always watched anytime he was listed in a series or movie. Other than him, my fond memories are of the delightful Reta Shaw.

And finally, the series is out on dvd... kind of. Both seasons have been released in Australia... but only playable in the US if you have an all-region player.

But I bought them the month they were released. The transfers are lovely.

A friend also sent me a copy of the movie as colorized by Ted Turner back in the 80's. Black and white is so much better!

How sad, that you were not born in my time, nor I, in yours.

55 year old female. I've loved classic movies all my life. Gene Tierney is a dear favorite actress of mine.
As an aside, I first knew about " The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" through the short- lived US television show starring Hope Lange. Though they are quite different in scope and so forth, I was a very young child and was extremely impressed by the love between a ghost and a woman ( paraphrasing a line from " Frasier").
