Would you go back in time if you could?

I know, no toilet paper, tampons, computers, television, none of the things that we take for granted in 2008. But would you go back if you could? And what would you be?

There is no way that I would go back in time, the movies make it look interesting, but that's for people who are NOT black. As an African American, I would be afraid for my life if I went back in time. Slavery. Racism. No thanks!

Hmmm.

That's an interesting dynamic the movie could have explored. What would have happened if Kate was a black woman, and not a white woman? Probably would have been more interesting and revealing of the dynamics of love, class, race, etc. both then and now.

I would if it were just for a few dsys.
But never if I had to spend the rest of my life there.

I would miss the Internet and my TV and Music so much.

I would want to go back in time.
But not the 1800's.
No computers, tv, cellphones etc.
If I had to go back in time to which ever period I wanted, I would choose the 1960's.
Or back into the 1990's. Miss those days now :(

You bet I would! I'd go back seven years, before I was discovered to have an AVM requiring brain surgery resulting in a stroke, which I survived, but that has left me partially disabled to this day. I'd: 1. get a second opinion, 2. Make the six hour drive to Nashville to the Vanderbilt University Medical center for the best care available. The outcome might have been dramitcally different.
For one who used to bounce into work like Tigger, I miss the energy & enthusiasm I had, as well as the use of my left arm & hand.

I do wish somebody wpould film the time-travel novels of Jack Finney. They are wonderful.

I would go back to the 80s. I would make smarter decisions with my children. And I would appreciate how skinny I actually was.

You do realize there were no cellphones or home computers till the late 70s? And no internet till the mid 90s?

I would LOVE to go back to the 1800's!!!!
But id like it to be more of a Jane Austen type situation, i dont think id like the whole New York thing.
Id want to be a woman and wear the dresses, and i dont think id mind the lack of technology and amenaties, im quite good at adapting and i like to read, there were alot of books then.
As long as i had some good friends lol

Actually, I'd go back to July 17, 2010 when Imade a very bad decision which has endangered a 35 year relationship.

No way, unless I'm a man. Men get it easy in the old days, they don't have to wear big dresses (which I find it a chore instead of fashion), they don't have to worry about their period etc. Then again even if I were a man, I would want a precise plan of coming back to the present in case something goes wrong.

The future however, I would definitely go, even if it's just for a glimpse. I need to see the year 3000 (if humankind can even survive that far!).

Try wearing a 3-piece suit with a starched high collar in the middle of summer.

To Leopold? EVERYTIME.
Otherwise... don't think so, no.

reply

Nope. I enjoy things like my right to vote, have a job and have control over my own body. There's no way I'd trade that in for a corset and some dude. :/

reply

Yes, to the Devonian or Pliocene some such.
