What is the best joke in the movie?

What is the best gag, joke, or a very long funny skit that happens in the movie?

For me its at the beginning where he is sleeping on the statue and when the national anthem plays he tries to stand while his pants are stuck on the sword (who cant find any ground to stand on).

What about yall?

the boxing part of course (like surely in many comments i have not read)

but one is incredible by his rapidity; Synchronization and creativity :

in the restaurant (before eating noodles) when he put his napkin in his pants, and that the millionaire has returned him inside thinking it was his shirt that exceeds.

a flash of genius ! i think its typical from chaplin, a second plan gag that take you to the more elaborate gags (a sort of warm up).

My favorite sight gag is when the wet millionaire is toasting his new friend and loses track of what his right hand is doing. He pours the entire bottle down the tramp's pants then goes to pour another round and is surprised to see the bottle is empty. Without missing a beat he gets another bottle and does the same thing again. To cap it off, the tramp pours the third toast in his pocket, slaps his chest and splashes the butler in the face with it. I've seen it imitated but never matched for panache.

It's just a quick little thing, but when he approaches the piano, with his fingers outstretched, and then when he bends over his fingers miss it and he lands face-first on the keys.

Also when he delivers the line "tomorrow the birds will sing". It's beautiful and ludicrous at once, sort of Chaplin's speciality.

When he has the whistle stuck in his throat and the dogs follow him into the party. :)

I like when the blind flower girl, rinsing out her bucket, unknowingly dumps the water on the secretly admiring Tramp (right after the famous "she hears a millionaire's car door slam" scene to think the Tramp is a rich man)!

I just watched this movie again, and every time I see it, I love it more!

My fav bits-
When the statue is revealed and we see the tramp sleeping

The spaghetti/confetti bit

The bit when the music is pumping furiously and we see the tramp getting more and more into the music - tapping his foot until he can bear it no longer and he jumps up and grabs the girl (this may be my personal favorite bit!)

The elephant!!!

To think all these funny bits lead up to the most heartwarming scene I can think of ever -
Wow - what a movie!

Not "a joke", but I love his face when he notices that the millionaire is tying the rope to a rock.

I concur. At first, he isn't sure what's happening while watch it going on, smelling the flower, but when he does ... "!"

I never think about the future, it comes soon enough

I think my top 2 moments would have to be...

1.) When he stops to honor the national anthem whilst on the statue.

2.) When the worker eats the soap sandwich and has bubbles coming from his mouth.

I'm not a big slapstick lover, so a lot of the visual gags and character moments stood out for me as opposed to Charlie fumbling to stand up.

I just realized Shaft Juice sounds like semen.
