Initially thought she won the debate, now not sure

Although it seemed like Harris may have bested Trump in the debate (primarily on style points), I'm no longer sure about this. For one, the split screen revealed many odd and rather childish facial expressions. Could this be a turnoff for middle voters? Another, the media was clearly helping Harris and not Trump. If the public could see that this was an unfair fight, then it only helps Trump. Third, several topics that the moderators claimed to "fact check" Trump on were revealed to actually go more in Trump's favor. These same topics have also been thrust into the news cycle so that more voters who were unaware of these issues (people eating dogs) are more likely to go out of their way to learn about the issues, and perhaps even agree with Trump's take on them.

So now, it seems like Trump may have been helped after the debate more than I thought.

"They're eating the pets of the people that live there, and this is what's happening in our country, and it's a shame." Trump said it was true because he saw it on television. 🤣

With further research Harris is now for limited fracking. This is what you want so why are you crying about it?

What about it? It's a far greater issue that Kamala Harris declared she would ban fracking 2019. It suggests she just says whatever people want to hear. In other words, it suggests that she's a phony who is interested in power.

That's an average of polls. I think it's safe to say that polls skew to the left prior to an election.

How does it compare? Trump engages in rhetorical hyperbole in order to make a point. Harris lies about something she wants to do that will negatively impact the country. Being a bullshitter is relatively inconsequential, compared to being a malevolent liar.

Not only that, but the only mistake Trump made in that statement was "all". Haitians haven't eaten them all, yet. But they have taken some pets, as well as geese from a public park, for either food or voodoo or whatever the hell they do with them. The ABC "fact check" was a lie.

I disagree. There were numerous things said during the debate that were dismissed by Harris and the moderators as untrue that have since been proven true. I know the hardcore Harris followers will vote for her no matter what, but any moderate or undecided voter who is paying attention will notice and it will likely sway their vote.

It's more that the vast majority of what you describe as "lies he's told since 2016" were media fabrications, along with Russian collusion, drink bleach, very fine people, the rape, the N.Y. trial, and far more than one can list here, have all been shown to be media fabrications, and this feels like the tipping point.

I was an anti-Trump moderate in 2016, but I paid attention and saw what was happening. I notice that since 2020 more and more left-leaning people have embraced Trump, but since the debate I've heard even far-left activist types say versions of "I hate Trump, but will hold my nose and vote for him for the sake of the country." That's shocking to me.

I have no idea what you do or don't believe, but perhaps someday those in power will do something that even you will be unable to deny, or to rationalize, and you'll suddenly understand why so many Americans will support a political outsider who is fighting against the system, even if he is a boorish man.

That's true. However, when the CSPAN poll with +300K participants had Trump with a 3 fold advantage in winning the debate then the moviechat results with its smaller sample supports the same general results:

America is in shambles and the actions of the Biden Regime on all the issues were done on purpose. I kind of agree with Trump with being angry while Kamala smiles and plays dumb. We are all angry and if Trump can win its going to take years if not decades to undo the historic levels of harm done to our country.

Trump was helped DURING the debate because the moderators did not do their job and keep his microphone muted when it was not his turn to speak. Trump actually got more than five minutes more of speaking time than Harris. Typical of Trump on his bully pulpit. Those ABC commentator caved to him and I'm pissed about that.

I think it's clear that the moderators helped Harris, not Trump. There's even a video floating around on TikTok/Twitter in which a guy fed the transcript of the debate into ChatGPT to figure out where bias was, with some interesting results. Check it out.

But it was clear that the moderators helped Harris' side. You might not like it, but that's what happened. And yes, her facial expressions were clownish. I am certain that her base enjoyed those expressions, but they were going to vote for her anyway. Here, I'm referring to undecided voters.
