Who told this woman she was funny?
Granted, i've not seen everything she's done but i have seen films in which she's appeared and always found her to be the weak link.
Her perfomances are one dimentional, she has one way of delivering a line - like a shrinking violet, lacking confidence. Her comedy timing is off by a nautical mile. She's just not funny. It maybe says more about American audiences that she's been around for so long than her actual talent, i mean usually people grow, their direction alters slightly, they try different characters etc..Certainly its the way it works in Britain. Americans seem to typecast themselves, we've seen Jim Carrey virtually vanish after years of playing essentially the same character with very little variation. Don't get me wrong, when carrey was funny, he was funny! Will Ferrell is similar, very little variation but he has timing, he can deliver lines, though his time will be up soon also.
Wiig has no delivery, no timing. She's flat. She seems better suited to 'guest' roles, where she's present for only a few scenes and therefore doesn't have the time or opportunity to bore you. Any time she seems to take a lead role she's just not got the prescence or aura to carry it off.
Sooner rather than later, her 15 minutes will be up and I, for one cannot wait.
Nothing is Black and White. Even Black and White are only extreme shades of Grey.
