Jones didn’t question the Sandy Hook shooting. He outright declared it to be a hoax and called the parents crisis actors.

The harassment from Jones' followers is part of it, but the harassment came directly because of the defamation from Jones. This might help you understand. Jones accused the families of the murder victims of lying about their children's deaths. Jones went far beyond questioning the shooting, he made libelous claims against the victims by claiming they were part of a staged event and no one was killed.
