shareThere is no reason at the moment. I suspect he maybe wanted to avoid questions about the Ray Fisher situation. They probably tried to convince him to do the panel anyway until the last moment but he kept refusing until they were forced to announce the panel was canceled.

Besides he is a product of nepotism. If it weren't for his father and grandfather I doubt he would have ever gotten the opportunities that he did.

I'm not defending Joss as he is a piece of shit for cheating on his wife. However the Hollywood double standards are nauseating. Joss is vilified for cheating yet.......Brad Pitt, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks, Kenneth Branagh, Will Smith, Angelina Jolie 2x, Jay Z, Hugh Grant, Chris Rock, Arnold, and countless others have been let off the hook.
It was like the Cecil the Lion thing where everybody went ape and demonised this one dentist for buying a big game hunt and winding up with jerk guides who told him to shoot the wrong lion.
Plenty of other poachers, the governments of those countries are approving of buying big game hunts (not always without legitimate reasons), but because of whatever confluence of circumstances, Cecil got the world freaking out.
Whedon was wrong place, wrong time, and there was just enough stuff floating around to attract over the leeches.
I'd also note that some of those people you list did get some flak, albeit nowhere near the guff Whedon's taking. Jolie was called a crazy homewrecker for years, Arnold was pilloried at the time. Nobody got "cancelled", but that's just because Cancel Culture on stuff like this is new.
It's amazing how much stuff Cancel Culture will annihilate on rumours.
