How does someone so mediocre....
Get the opportunity to make so many movies? I don’t think I’ve seen a single product of his that isn’t pure garbage.

shareI wouldn't say it's all pure garbage, but the dialogue he writes is too similar between projects. It comes off as lame to me.
shareBuffy, Angel, and Avengers all have Imdb ratings of ~8. You are Pure Garbage!
share^THAT.
shareAll caps are a sign of instability. Hot tip

His dad was a tv writer so Joss is the product of nepotism. The woketards of Hollyweird love his trash tv shows because he's a self loathing nihilist.
shareHe gets too much credit for Firefly. Tim Minear did a bunch of the work on that show and JW took most of the credit.
Do you think a person that hates ordinary people could write a favorable TV about them? It's laughable.
Every show is a team effort, so I think you're right: it's not like Joss should get all the credit. The brilliant cast is surely creditable for their work, right?
But the characters he uses on Firefly (which are the glue of the show) have popped up in "proto" form in his other works. Ron Perlman plays a kind of early Jayne in Alien 4, for instance. So, I think Whedon could write that show.
Now, I don't know that he hates ordinary people (where are you getting this from?), but that's neither here nor there since the crew of Serenity aren't ordinary. Simon is gifted, River is that much more-so (and psychic), Wash is the best pilot in the 'verse, Kaylee's a wizard mechanic, Book is an ex-assassin (or whatever he was) hiding out as a preacher, Mal is a space cowboy (face it: he's Whedon's take on Han Solo - maybe even taking him back after the Special Editions softened Han's character...). These people aren't "ordinary".
He's reliable safe hand from TV... Ideal for a corporation to hire to turn out product... You know what you'll get...
The Cabin In The Woods was good... but apart from that, most of what he churns out is fairly inoffensive, broadly appealing stuff... So he's the kind of person to hire for a toy-based movie like the comic book ones and such...
I think he's a clever writer and I've enjoyed everything of his I've watched. He does have a certain style which he consistently brings - even to Much Ado About Nothing where he inherited the dialogue. Maybe his style just doesn't work for you?
Mass appeal? That's the only thing I can put it down to. His work is often campy and has a 90s vibe, which I don't personally mind, but I can admit it's not great - certainly not deserving of the opportunities he has had.
shareNah he could have done more if he wanted. Remember that after The Avengers he had Hollywood at his feet. He could have created an empire producing many movies and tv shows like JJ Abrams. Instead he just produced Agents of SHIELD. And after Age of Ultron he basically did nothing except the post-production of Justice League. I think he doesnt want to create an empire like JJ Abrams but he could have done if he wanted to
shareYes, he could have because he's been given the opportunities to do so - but the question is, why has he been given those opportunities? I don't think he's done anything to deserve them, and I enjoy some of his work.

It is mass appeal , inexplicably the masses like superhero movies.
look at this way Superhero movies are shit and are slowly sucking the life out of cinema and killing it with a slow death.
Once you accept that , and discount any of those from Whedon's resume the rest of the stuff isnt too bad :)
