She IS Hermoine, you really can't have anyone else play the character

I still can't wrap my head around the idea of casting someone else as Hermoine, it just doesn't computes, Emma IS Hermonine and separating the two is like destroying the character. I don't see this upcoming TV series working at all, the backlash on casting someone else as Hermoine will be massive.

I mean eventually popular franchise roles are recast and taken up by different actors as time goes by. It is really inevitable. Look at Batman and other superheroes, for example.

reply

You might not want to go see the Broadway show Harry Potter. I loved it, but just warning you, Hermoine is not only NOT Emma Watson, but she's black.

reply

Just like they are doing with the upcoming Romeo and Juliette.

For being 14% of the US population, Blacks sure manage to represent a much higher percentage than that in Media, Entertainment, and sports. And nobody calls foul. When whites dominate anything, it's immediately called racist and time to boycott.

reply

Yes, for these people making things diverse is code word for making things less white. Which is why they can say that an all black cast like in Black Panther is diverse but an all white cast is not. Pure identity politics, it is ridiculous and their claim that media needs to represent demographics is a lie.

reply

Black Panther did not have an all black cast. About 10% of the speaking roles in that film were not black.

How does being so obviously wrong help your claims?

reply

Black people make up more than 14% of those in media, entertainment and sports? I find that hard to believe. Show me how you came to that conclusion?

Whites dominate the NHL and MLB, why are you calling it racist and demanding a boycott? ESPN claims sports media are very white. Show me your details for the boycott? https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/32254145/sports-media-remains-overwhelmingly-white-male-study-finds

Are you going to calla out the errors in this Wikipedia article on race in sport? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_and_sports

reply

Yes you have raised valid exceptions to over-representation of blacks beyond the 14% norm.

NHL, Golf, NASCAR and MLB are good examples. I'm not saying black leaders are calling for boycotts of any of these sports. But it's happened with "all white" TV shows and TV commercials. Advertisers today have totally caved and you'll now (almost) always see a black person represented in most TV and print ads, in disproportionate rates to the 14% population.

No the NAACP isn't calling for a boycott of the NHL or NASCAR, because that's a choice to enter those sports.

But they have now FORCED the NFL to have to interview minorities for every position. It's not enough for owners to just say that a "qualified black candidate simply didn't present themselves" as a reason for lopsided hiring of white vs. black coaches. Now there are forced quotas in the hiring process. That's where I call BS.

A black female reporter in the NFL is pretty much guaranteed a job today. I call BS.

reply

You're being evasive. I would like to know more about how you're calling them racist and calling for boycotts of these mostly white organizations/activities. I was really hoping that you would man up. Is that really too much to ask of you?

You obviously were claiming that someone is calling racist and time to boycott. Exactly who is doing this? By that I mean names and links to evidence to support your claims.

Which NFL teams have been forced to interview blacks for every position? Surely you have names of the interviewer/interviewees?

Tell me more about these forced quotas? Are they real, or just really your imagination?

Is it BS that a white reporter (they have to hire someone) is "pretty much guaranteed a job today"? It is like you think that the wrong skin color (non-white) is somehow a disqualification for a job in the NFL.

Thanks for the link, it was educational. Tell me more about the boycotts you're saying should happen?

You guys maybe wanna take this someplace else?

A lot of characters get recast. As long as the new actors do a good job, it could work.

reply

True but some characters are so tied to the actors that did them like Hermoine with Emma Watson, that it is best to just not recast. Better make a new character.

I thought that the blonde girl on the cover of Goblet of Fire was Hermione for the longest time. I read the first two books as a kid but only 1/3rd of the 3rd one

Ever since I saw Emma Watson I think I fell in love with her 💕 Plus we kind of look the same (I wish I was Emma Watson, I wish I was Emma Watson! I! Wish! I! Was! Emma! Watson!!!)

Emma is truly amazing one of the most beautiful women on earth.

reply

She is genuinely very nice to people, absolutely adore her.
I used to joke "Someday, I'm going to watch every movie with Emma Watson, and enjoy myself frequently throughout", so I did that a few weeks ago. They are all so dark. Colonia was really good, I want Emma Watson to come rescue ME as I feel like that guy just during my daily plights
