shareI don't hate her. I pity her because she suffers from a delusional mental illness, and she isn't likely to get treatment that might help her have any sort of normal life. Because of the present ideological climate, she will only get affirmation from the medical and psychiatric professions, which will result in a bizarre, freakish life that is neither female nor male normal.

Believing you are a man trapped in a woman's body is a mental illness. Unless you believe in spirits and such, but why would a spirit have a gender, and how would one spirit accidentally develop into the wrong gender?
One thing that is quite common among trans people is severe anxiety. Some doctors recommend treating the anxiety rather than surgery and hormones. I remember one person talking about it on the internet, I can't think of his name right now but he used to think he was a woman but his doctor was able to control these feelings by using anxiety meds. Of course, doctors and big pharma can make a lot more money off surgery and hormones than they can anxiety meds. So... it's an obvious choice for them.
Personally, I don't have much of an opinion on it. Some people do genuinely feel like they were born in the wrong body, ,and what can I say about it? I do think science just hasn't figured this out yet. Surely, unnecessary surgeries are not the answer because technically speaking, you can't really change your gender. And if we now are to believe that whats between your legs doesn't define you, then how is surgery going to fix this anyways?
