Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista and other Hollywood stars react to James Gunn firing

If SJWs had dug up the tweets Hollywood would not defend Gunn. But it was evil Nazis that posted the tweets, so Gunn is the victim this time!

Hollywood has been shocked by Disney's decision to fire director James Gunn over offensive Tweets posted almost a decade ago, many famous actors and writers posting reactions on Twitter.

Between 2008 and 2012, the filmmaker posted multiple messages on social media containing jokes about subjects such as paedophilia and rape. The posts were recently unearthed by a conservative news website leading to Disney ”severing” their business relationship with Gunn.

One of Gunn’s actors, Dave Bautista – who played the character Drax in both Guardians instalments – defended the director’s “mistakes” on Twitter: “James Gunn is one of the most loving, caring, good natured people I have ever met. He’s gentle and kind and cares deeply for people and animals. He’s made mistakes. We all have. I’m NOT ok with what’s happening to him.”

Actor Patton Oswalt posted a message concerning one of the commentators who brought down Gunn, while Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland joked about quitting the unannounced Jar Jar Binx movie because of the move.

James Gunn Fired – What Does That Mean for Guardians 3?

While this is true about who brought it to light, it doesn't change he shouldn't have been fired. I really wish some of these companies would stand a little firm, and not buckle because PR may be bad for the short term.

So what should a friend do? I don't care if it's the left (which it usually is these days) or the right...or who the target is..Hollywood has been in a bubble and seems to have no problem throwing any one under the bus even if they know the person well and feel that the insinuations or allegations are not true.

Everyone is too afraid of being targeted or ostracized themselves by association.

I admire people that don't turn their backs on their friends and say what they believe to be true.
It's brave to do the unpopular thing and not run with the pack.

reply

Loyalty is admirable, even when it's misplaced.

This wasn't a couple tweets, a couple bad jokes. Like Sarah Silverman or Patton Oswalt.
The guy had posted hundreds of gross comments about young boys and pedophilia.

reply

Yes, I've seen some of them and they're pretty disgusting..No doubt. And I don't get it.
But there's been many things in my life that didn't jive with me but I knew someone was deliberately trying to be shocking and disgusting and to provoke a response. Trollish.
From all accounts he's none of those things in real life..a pedophile namely..That's important.

I've been offended by many things throughout my life...and it hasn't given me PTSD and I accepted it as a part of life. I figured it to be the price we pay for freedom of speech..
But I do think digging back into someone's past for offenses with the intent to ruin them is more offensive than some evil words.

There's probably not a one of us that hasn't done something that we're ashamed of in our past..I've never said anything racist or done evil deeds but I sure had my share of stupid that I'm grateful was never recorded.
No one is safe.
And I know this time it was the ultra conservative right...and that the regressive left started the trend...and yaddayaddayadda
but who cares which side it comes from. Both sides are extreme idiots.

I guess Disney does have the right to choose their brand but I'm still uncomfortable with stupid disgusting comments on twitter or social media years ago or random and unproven accusations from an acquaintance or partner from many years ago should have the power to ruin someones life with no appeal .

please don't spread misinformation

reply

Well, I guess that makes it all OK then.

reply

pretty much

reply

He deleted 10,000+ tweets, there were reportedly hundreds of pedo themed tweets.
Not all rising to the level of "I F'ed the shit out of the little pussy kid" obviously.

It is not misinformation.

reply

i'll take your word for it

reply

Nazis? LOL! Good old lib Democrazies supporting a suspected pedo.

reply

Unless you got proof. Tweets don't mean shit.

reply

Those actors and directors are absolutely disgusting, I've never been more disappointed in Hollywood in my entire life, they are a clique of untalented, pandering, ignorant creeps.

reply

All of Hollywood? Including the guy who rigs up a camera?

reply

they can be gross too.

reply

He SHOULD have been fired. But for GOTG2

reply

Unless you guys have proof. Real Hard Proof that he actually committed a crime. Im not buying. Those Tweets don't prove shit. There a difference between words and actions. If i told a joke about fucking your mother. Dose that mean i actually fucked your mother?? Telling a Bad Joke is not a crime. And How many of you people watched Family Guy every week watching Herbert trying to Molest Chris every week on Family guy and laughing while doing so. Get off your high horse, Bitch.

reply

in September of 2010, James Gunn published a video on his personal blog titled “100 Pubescent Girls Touch Themselves"

that is a lot different than watching Herbert trying to Molest Chris every week on Family guy and laughing while doing so.

reply

Which link to a video of a all girl choir singing the song " I Touch Myself" by Divinyls. Somebody already debunked this with the way back machine.

reply

They raise good points. Sadly we don't know if the bad jokes also has some deeper darker secret in his private life. He clearly likes to use little boys as the blunt of his creepy so-called jokes. The thing is most of these allegations are in the past and people are getting punished for said past mistakes without taking into account that there is no recent event of such atrocities. Obviously they've either matured or learned from past mistakes and haven't done it since yet we're punishing them even after the fact. If Gunn get's re-hired, so should Kevin Spacey and the likes.
