"get off my lawnnn kids. wahhh these kids didnt discover the song the same way I did!!!! thats bad!!"
shareYou make a good point, Leo, in your sarcastic way.
Nevertheless, these kids are still annoying, and they should definitely get off of that guy’s lawn.
[none]
No, the idiot DiCaprio fanboy never makes a good point. 🤣
It's not even an issue of age. There are those of us who like music for its own sake. And there are the dullards who only notice a song if they hear it on tv.
In fairness, if hearing a song on TV leads someone on to a huge voyage of discovery; uncovering old bands and artists, then that’s a good thing, right?
shareSure. I'm just wary of people who are so absorbed in tv that they never explore music for its own sake. I think that is the OP's point. And like I said, I'm not sure it's an age issue. Young folks tend to explore more music and seek out new interesting bands more than older people.
shareyaa its just gatekeeping. "you cant like her it has to be for the exact same reasons I do!"
shareThe issue is that these dumb millenials make it sound like they discovered some obscure artist. They want to take claim over discovery of something that has already been discovered.
shareI don't get upset about how people choose to enjoy music or who they choose to listen to. As long as I can listen to what I like, I don't care.
shareI don't care either, but when they claim they discovered an artist who is already well known, it's like they want credit. Imagine I was like, "hey I'm just getting into this band. Have you ever heard of AC/DC?" I'd want you to smack me on the head.
shareKids are annoying. We all were.
shareIt's amazing they like anything that wasn't recorded five minutes ago.
shareTrue words.
And when they hear that five minute ago song, they will have already forgotten it by next week.
I don't blame young people, though. They behave exactly the way their elders raised them to behave. So, if mom and dad put a cellphone into their child's hands when the child was four years old, it's no wonder the child is devoid of any significant, independent thinking habits.
sharethis is so true. like it, or approve it or not, this is simply the evolution mankind makes. good or bad, it will be what it will be. could we stop it? maybe, but doesn't look like anyone wants to bother, so no reason to fret over it. :)
they won't know they are idiots, and everyone will be like that, therefore, it makes no difference in the grand scheme.
I can honestly say I am so sick of that song. I change it the moment I hear it. Ugh.
shareIt's a very ordinary song and far from being one of her best. The whole thing was odd.
Agreed! But I kid you not, it is played on every type of radio station out here...easy listening, pop, alternative, rap. It's out of control.
shareAfter 1982's amazing experimental album, "The Dreaming", this one seemed so tame and commercial. Never liked the whole "Hounds of Love" album. Compared to her earlier stuff it's a typical 1980s sellout album.
shareI honestly never payed attention to her before. I just wasn't into her music but I did enjoy the song during that scene with Max. I even listened to it once on the radio shortly after that episode. But then, it was on every single time I turned on the radio. Ugh, over-played to death!
shareI never liked Stranger Things anyway. I only jumped on the bandwagon as it was a nostalgia horror show with a child cast, like Andy Muschietti's IT that also came out in 2017, and Finn Wolfhard was on both.
Ever since then, I've lost interest, especially as the kids are no longer kids but teens.
It was even worse growing up in 1980's England, not just having to put up with Kate's Bush all these old hits from the 50's and 60's kept getting into the charts and some even got to number one!

And I won't post the three Jive Bunny mash ups of 50's and 60's songs that all hit number one in 1989!
Fuckin 80's, Fuckin Dumb Gen Xers
Immature, blinkered fuckers
(I bought all those songs btw, excluding Jive Bunny! 😀)
Yeah, as a teenager in the 80’s I got into Blues , Soul and R’n’B , mainly from watching The Blues Brothers. However, being a white teen born in the UK in 1969, I rapidly discovered I wasn’t a black slave from the deep South of 18th C America so I began to despise myself, and would spit at my own reflection in shop windows.
shareBob Carolgees is that you?
shareIt's better for them this way.
When they are trained to only do and think how the hive mind tells them, their transitsion to AI running their lives will be faster and simpler.
Less opposition from humanity, easier adoption.
It's all good. .... for them
