Yes, and I never understood why. I think her fame was based on Baby Doll and perhaps I was too young to appreciate it, or even understand it, at the time - and I've not seen it since.

I remember Carroll Baker in news paper articles and chat shows when I was a kid and as I said above, just not getting it. The only film I can easily remember her in is The Big Country, which I always liked but her role in it was nothing special.
Her looks are well known but what I always liked was her voice and dialect.
Very common sense/mid-western tone and great facial expressions to accommodate.
She rode the demise of the studio system from the underside. I think she should have done more Broadway.
