Why is Ginger Rogers never compared to Hepburn, Davis, Crawford, or Stanwyck?

Even though she debuted around the same time as Katharine Hepburn, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, and Barbara Stanwyck and was a major leading lady for several decades like the rest of them, she never gets compared to them acting wise. Why? Her career lasted just as long.

She's known more for her dancing. I've heard it said that she turned down the Donna Reed part in it's A Wonderful Life because she thought the character was too old for her to do. Don't know if it's true or not, but she would be much more remembered today if she had done it.

I guess people primarily think of her as Fred Astaire's dance buddy.
