Every Superman Actor Ranked By Comic Book Authenticity

We've had plenty of different Superman incarnations over the years — but which are the most comic book accurate?

reply

I'll go with a top three (taking into account the look and the performance),

1. Christopher Reeve
2. Tyler Hoechlin (who has really impressed me, despite my initial doubts)
3. Brandon Routh

The comics I grew up with were those of the 1950s and 1960s. From that point of view, the original Christopher Reeve film captured the Man of Steel and the tone of the Metropolis world of the comics perfectly. When I was a small boy, I watched the George Reeves tv show religiously, and it still holds a place in my heart. In spite of it's comparatively low budget, it also mirrored the comics of its time very well. I don't know why the photos of Reeves accompanying the article are black-and-white, because the series was shot in color (although most people didn't have color tv sets until several years later).

reply

Only the last season was in color.

What a stupid list. Nicolas Cage's CGI cameo ranked above Tom Welling. Sorry can't take this crap seriously

I saw that and about fell over. Come ON! Seriously? Who wrote this???

reply

For real. The article goes on to say based on accurate to the comics.

I love Henry Cavill. But by that logic you really have to bump Cavill down a few spots if you're saying based off the comics, and the person that wrote the article says not the most comic book accurate. SMH

Not a bad top 5 ranking, though I would switch (or coin toss) Chris and George.

Nick Cage? He never played Superman.

Glad to see Dave Wilson get mentioned; he often gets ignored in these lists.

Cavil is ranked too high.
