Not surprising to me. Except my Grandpa on my mom's side none of my grandparents used the internet. My Grandpa on my dad's side would never buy a computer much less a cellphone that has internet capability. Hell, he didn't have air conditioning, carpet, or a dish washer in his house. He also didn't have a color TV in his house til 1999 when my parents bought him and my Grandma one. My Grandma on my dad's side died in 2006. My Grandpa on my dad's side died in 2009.
My Grandma on my mom's side refused to learn how to use a computer and was really upset in the late 90s when her local library got rid of the card catalog and replaced it with a computer. I guess my point is that older people might not like using things like a computer and the internet. If you went the majority ofyour life without a computer or the internet you might feel the same way.
where do old people draw the line?
do they use cash machines ?
what about telephones where the rotsary dial has been replaced with buttons?
I don't know but I have met elderly people at the Kroger store I work in who think it's ridiculous you have to go on the kroger website and create an account to get discounts on products there.

shareI don't like it that much either. It's something Kroger started doing about 5-8 years ago. And now we aren't allowed to give them the digital discount if they aren't a member of the online website.
shareButton phones came in in the 50s, old people today, even 20 years go would've been relatively young back then. I think I might turn into 1 of these old people tbh, I don't like changing my cp, tablet, or computer as often as my brother does (every 6 months).

Well that's me, I keep mine for years but my brother changes his every few months and he too works for IT. He says tech changes so quickly, if you don't want to get stuck with something you can't sell, you have to sell it while you still can without losing money. But I hate change and transferring all my apps from 1 device to another. Some programs don't allow multiple devices or limited devices.

He's addicted to new shiny shiny tech and has to justify staying at the sharp end of the depreciation curve with that false logic.
(unless he's being really clever about it and buying each new iPhone used at 12 months old and selling at 18 mth to minimize value loss . It'd still cast ya though)

Likely both, he wants something new and shiny like you said, and be able to sell the old one at a reasonable price. Oh he doesn't like apple, he uses android phones. Most of us in the Philippines use Android phones and tablets.

I know a man in his early 60s who once had satellite TV years ago, for the soccer, but one day just decided to ditch his TV and all of that stuff and ONLY have a radio and books, and go to local soccer matches in person with an expensive season ticket. He went out a lot, to volunteer at the same charity shop that I did, but when he was at home, he would only read books and listen to the radio. He had no basic or smart phone whatsoever, definitely not a computer or anything like that, and if he was given a phone, he would just chuck it or refuse to use it.
One day, he went missing and wasn't seen for a few days. It turns out that he'd collapsed in his home due to a stroke, and while he was still able to drink water and reach for some food, he was effectively helpless as he couldn't stand up or walk, and since he had no phone, no-one knew about his situation. Eventually, the police were called and broke into his flat and took him to hospital once they found him. That was a few months ago and he's back home now, recovered, but the point is, he was that close to dying because he refused to have a phone.
What I'm saying is that technology improves and even saves lives, and if older people turn away from it because it's "too new-fangled", then that's the risk they're taking.

It says Christopher Walken has never owned a computer or a cell phone. Therefore the chance - miniscule as it was - that he, or any other celebrity, would be wasting their time looking at this particular site drops to 0%.
Therefore there is a relevance to all these "Happy Birthday" threads dumped on here, which are not simply literally "bumped" (🤣) threads on the particular person's birthday, but written a new. I have often questioned the utter pointlessness of these given a) the low odds anyone ever had seen one of these addressed to them and b) the fact that half the time the board literally has imported their birthday within the imported IMDb blurb.
In this context, the OP was particularly amusing.

It's not entirely an accurate portrayal, even if technically true. He's said they usually give him one when he's doung a movie so they can stay in contact. While he may not have purchased it, a gift can still lead to ownership.

shareI’m sure his assistants own them. A lot of wealthy people don’t have personal computers or phones. They hire people to use them for them.
