The son of a former James Bond star has given his opinion that the next actor playing 007 should be English, amid speculation of casting for the role.

Geoffrey "Jaffa" Moore, son of the late Roger Moore, who portrayed Bond from 1973 to 1985, gave his opinion that the next actor should be English, like the character. In an exclusive interview with English newspaper The Express, he claimed it was "ridiculous to hire an American." Read the musician's comments below:

“I mean, there’s a lot of talent out there, but he has to be English. It’s ridiculous to consider Bond being an American. You know, even if he’s got a flawless accent, he’s got to be British. It is an English franchise."

As a Brit I've always thought that. But since 2005 we've had two British Batmans, two British Spider-Mans, a British Superman, a British Napoleon Solo, two British Professor Xs, and a British Abraham Lincoln! So, whilst I'd rather Bond was a Brit, so long as whoever it is can play a Brit well, I'll be happy.

Also, 'Jaffa' needs to grasp the difference between English and British, they're not interchangeable. Only Dalton and Craig have been English. Connery was Scottish, Brosnan was Irish, and Lazenby was freakin' Australian!
