What is the biggest flaw of Quentin Tarantino as a movie director?

1: Morality is absent in the Tarantino verse.

2. His quirkiness and varied homages are often what make his movies unique. But sometimes they can just be annoying.

I would argue the opposite, that there is too much twee or black and white morality where Tarantino attempts to “get serious.” Oh look, Nazis bad, white slavers bad, evil hippie cultists bad. His biggest flaw is he makes movies for the immature mind and is too hung up on style over substance. He thinks his movies are some kind of panacea for racism, his ego is so massive recently that he can’t see he just makes glorified exploitation flicks for brain dead audiences who crave violence. His biggest flaw as a director is he’s massively overrated who really only had one true bonafide ‘hit,’ Pulp Fiction, and has been coasting ever since.

I think his biggest flaw is use of time. Once he got really famous, he started directing overly-long scenes to the point of it being painfully obvious. Evidence of being surrounded by yes-men.

I am OK with his style-over-substance and don't care about the foot shit. I really enjoy half of his work.

He has no idea how to be humble. Has made a few great movies, but needs to tone his ego just a bit.

His films don't make you think or feel.

I have to agree that he has gotten too carried away with himself and the long flowery monologues feel like Him doing an impression of what a Tarantino film is supposed to be, either that or it has just lost its touch with me

I really don't like Django or Hateful 8 and even Bastards is a film i never feel like rewatching

I read somewhere once that Jackie Browns reception hurt him and may have been the reason that he didn't do more 'straight' films, which was a shame as JB ranks very high on most hardcore fans lists and i think got the bet out of him working with somebody elses story and him just putting a little spice on the top

He definitely plays to the crowd now and like other mentioned he hardly goes after genuinely edgy subjects, Slaves and Nazis? he doesn't have anything important to say, its just peppery jive talking bullshit, but that was once the charm of him the plot never mattered i just think the small talk isn't very well written anymore

But there will always be scenes or moments in even the worse ones that stick in your brain and that keeps him afloat

As others have said using different words: Tarantino the director is too in love with Tarantino the writer.
