Are you going to watch Will Smith movies & TV shows ever again?

Was this enough to avoid his films and TV appearances?

reply

I just put the 12” of “Parents Just Don't Understand” on the turntable.

I never was drawn to his performances in the first place. The films of his I have enjoyed (Legend, Robot, Ali) seemed to have more of the director's stamp on them rather than whatever charm people seem to find in Smith. I won't boycott him, but I don't know how many of his efforts are worth seeking out.

reply

Not for a while. He won't be able to disappear into a role with the image of a violent man he just showed to the world.

reply

I think that could be the difficult thing about his actions, it will hard to see him in a movie and not think of 'the slap'.

But then again, I can probably forgive him in the long run. I'm still am able to watch Roman Polanski and Woody Allen films, so I can probably tolerate WS too.

reply

Of course. Why wouldn't I??

reply

I would watch his usual classics that I like. But I wouldn't spend any money on watching anything he churns out now.

reply

I can separate the art from the artist, so no, it won’t stop me from watching his movies

Watched an episode of the Fresh Prince last night.

Ashley tried to sneak back in late from a date with Will assisting as Uncle Phil tried to find a noisy cricket. Not the best episode tbh...

Of course I will watch him. Having talent is something that doesn’t go unappreciated. My favorite was Six Degrees of Separation. He needs time to sort his state of mind and private life that resulted in one of the most pubic meltdowns the likes we have never seen except in Shakespearean drama. And kudos to Chris Rock for being the better man. You don’t toss out people. It’s going to be a long road for him, and he will need the grace of others.
