Has Mr. Cruise ever been in a "bad" movie?

I looked through his entire filmography and I can't find a single bad movie he's ever been in

The Mummy 2017 is the closest thing he's been in that was a categorically awful movie. I personally loathe Rock Of Ages but he's the best thing about that movie. Knight And Day ain't great either.

I always thought Vanilla sky was considered a bad movie, because it was panned by critics. But I think that has turned around over time, it has a decent audience score everywhere.

The Mummy was so bad it killed a new Movie franchise before it even got started

I guess that Denzel would rather forget Virtuosity, and Carbon Copy...

Vanilla Sky??

Only two "bad" movies of his that come to mind are M:I-2 and The Mummy.

I don't like Legend or Jerry Maguire. I'm not going to call them bad movies though, which is an entirely seperate category from movies I don't personally like.

Cruise doesn't have a Battlefield Earth to point at. What is his technically worst film? It's probably one of his early roles, Losin It was mentioned, but do we really hold early roles against any actor?

reply

David Geffen was instrumental in securing Cruise's breakout role in Risky Business. Geffen has allegedly helped boost the careers of many young men. His (Cruise's) résumé prior to that contained decent films in which he was not the lead.

reply

He almost literally did have Battlefield Earth... Miscavige wanted sole credit for it.

Far and Away is so bad it's good. I laughed my head off watching that one.
