What do you do to relax?

What do you do to relax? Besides anything medicinal that is. I suck at relaxing.

reply

I rub one out. works every time.

reply

Yeah, except those times I get massive headaches before even finishing. Glad I got some pussy before this happened (again)

reply

Do you find it relaxing when you play the piano? By the way, I'd love to hear some of your piano playing one day...you should post something here when you feel like it!

I don't get to play nearly as much golf as I'd like (family responsibilities), but I get to go to the driving range a lot from around April to November (There's a nice range nearby where I work). I try to go at least once per week when I can. It's a nice little workout for about an hour or so... although sometimes, when I'm not hitting it well, it can cause me extra stress also! πŸ˜ƒ

I play guitar year-round... but definitely play more in the Winter months than I do in the Summer.

I also try to walk for an hour at least 3 times per week. I walked on a treadmill tonight, but I don't really like walking on a treadmill. We've had a pretty chilly Winter this year, so I haven't walked as much as I normally do.

reply

I think of all the things you mentioned taking a walk is what relaxes me the most if I'm really anxious about something. Something about the forward momentum and just releasing the energy of anxiety through exercise really helps. I used to have some audio clips of my piano music but I can't seem to find them anymore. Maybe one day when things calm down a little I will record something special for you.😊

reply

Yes, I know a lot of doctors have said that the absolute best exercise a person can get is a brisk one-hour walk. Unfortunately, it's just too cold and rainy again to do a walk tonight. At least Spring will be here before we know it!

And, yes, I would love to hear your piano playing. Just out of curiosity, I think you also mentioned very early when you were posting here that you were wanting to learn bass guitar. Any more on that? I know you've had a lot going on in your life these past few months, so maybe that got pushed to the back burner, which is completely understandable.

reply

No more progress on learning the bass guitar, though my interest hasn't decreased.

I'll do some practicing on a song and record it for you one day soon. I'm a little rusty. πŸ™‚

Sounds great! Looking forward to it!

I paint.

reply

I think if I had any artistic talent that would be extremely relaxing.

reply

It is - I paint animal portraits.

Play with my Kowalski dart board.

I relax by playing one of many 80's and 90's games I own on my Arcade Machine I purchased 2 years ago. Also, I go to the Gym, I have roughly 470 Blu Ray's & DVD's I watch, I listen to all types of music except for rap and last but not least, I do a few puffs of whatever I just happen to have at that moment. Right now, I purchased an 1/8th of Headband and after getting a flat tire overnight and having to walk home 2 miles and then back again to the dealership this morning, I could use it

reply

Sorry about the flat tire nuisance!

reply

Dang! I had a flat tire yesterday. I was headed out to a dentist appointment, walked into my garage and saw that my right front tire was flat. There was nothing I could do that would get me to my appointment, so I had to call and reschedule. Argh! To top it off, it was -17℉! Who wants to mess around with a tire when it's that cold? πŸ₯Ά

I have one of those air pumps that you can power by plugging it in to the car's cigarette lighter receptacle. Haven't used it in years, but thankfully, after bringing it inside to warm up for a while so the wires don't crack in the cold, it still works. I now have an appointment for new tires on Friday. It was time... (Okay, the tire wasn't completely flat - it had a whopping 4# of air in it.)

reply

A Portable tire pump sounds like a good investment, but I had a screw in my left rear tire an inch long, so that probably wouldn't have benefitted me at the time

reply

It's a godsend when you need it, but in cases like yours, it's not much help. I took my car in this afternoon and it now has four new tires, and I'm about $850 poorer (including an alignment and oil change, too). It needed to be done, though. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

Sunrise walks - start a walk 10 minutes before sunrise, so you can enjoy it while walking. Sleeping in. Reading and re-reading old beloved books, especially ones from childhood. Same with old comfort shows, watching those can be super relaxing. Talking to friends on the phone or over coffee. Eating a good home-cooked meal. Just being in or beholding nature - road trips to the countryside and to the local beaches are nice even if you never leave the car, just the drive can be pretty soothing. Hanging out with my pets. Stargazing.

reply

You and I sound very much alike. All excellent suggestions. 😊

reply

As in, we're both awesome? Lol glad to be of service.

reply

Exactly! πŸ˜ƒ

reply

Walking my pets and playing with them.

To me going to bike trails is very relaxing. The trails are paved and level. No vehicles allowed. Not only is it fun but the scenery is great. And the icing on the cake is its good exercise.

Nice.

reply

Yes, snuggling with my cat Frances and feeling her purring belly is soothing.

reply

I've read the purring of cats, has an extremely positive effect on humans.

reply

I've read it even lowers blood pressure. Hopefully so!

reply

Read, listen to music.

I also meditate. Sometimes guided, sometimes not. I've also gone floating a few times, and I really like it.

There are also some great nature walks in my area that are wonderful for some decompression.

reply

You and I sound very much alike, as well. All great suggestions. And guided meditation is definitely a friend of mine. πŸ™‚
