Talking became the accepted method of communication between human beings from day one apparently. How do you think someone came up with the idea to sing at some point?
I have read that the antidote to anger is singing. If people communicated primarily by singing would there be more peace on Earth?
I don't know about singing being a better way to communicate, but the best theory I can put forward is that cave people in the Ice Age probably invented singing, most notably by accident. Either that, or they were inspired by bird songs they heard. People would be surprised at how many things cave people invented, including early tools, tea, crude medicine, pottery, early clothing, simple musical instruments, and booze.

shareI think it's often involuntary and comes out at moments of stress or joy, mostly when trying to soothe others or ourselves. But to anyone who grew up on Disney aka musicals, singing and talking are pretty normalized, they aren't these vastly separate categories.
shareI get the involuntary thing. I'll often break into song walking around the house, mostly to be silly and hopefully make someone laugh but sometimes it just has to come out.
shareI do it when I'm taking a bite of something too hot, like pizza straight from the oven, you gotta sing the pain away lol. Like I said, moment of stress or joy - in the case of hot pizza, both. It's definitely got some therapeutic quality.
