Google Maps to rename ‘Gulf of Mexico’ to ‘Gulf of America’

Google said on Monday that it will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America” in Google Maps once it is updated in the U.S. Geographic Names System.

“We’ve received a few questions about naming within Google Maps. We have a longstanding practice of applying name changes when they have been updated in official government sources,” the company said in an X post.

I think it should be renamed to The Gulf of KOWALSKI. That way people will never get lost.

I can't believe they changed the Gulf of Mexico. That's an issue which involves more countries than just the U.S. Horrible move.

However, changing the name from dumbfuck Denali back to McKinley is completely within the purview of the U.S. and I agree, great idea. I suppose Obama was gonna give Alaska back to the Inuit?
