It came from Keith Moon. He came up with the name as a joke while Jimmy Page was trying to put a new band together.
Ended up being a perfect name for the band Jimmy put together....
Himself, Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones
The one and only Led Zeppelin
Yes, they were having a few scoops in a pub (Page was trying to recruit Moon for his new band) and Moon said that he thought the idea would go down like a lead zeppelin.
