Do you try to avoid watching the news
during these days? I do.
shareJust 5 minutes a day, just to make sure that aliens haven’t landed.
shareNever, just the opposite.
The more fake news are popping up the more I feel the need of cross checking all the news from all available sources to figure out which ones are the real news.
After the election I canceled my NYT and WAPO subscriptions and don't read much political news online.
shareI just avoid the fluff news. I don't like happy news I guess, but I have one other reason....(I won't share why.)
share
I avoid most media.
Similar to Andy, I realised during lockdown that most of it wasn't doing me any good... so I mostly just watch films now.
I get my news from a couple of legacy newspaper websites. Takes me ten minutes tops. No TV news. No social media bollocks. I feel more informed, rather than less informed. You've gotta sift out what isn't important. 24/7 rolling news is one of the worst modern creations.
Some time ago I "absorbed" the news, almost every day, until I realised that it was a waste of time. I get the information what is happening around the world anyway, even if I reduce the news media consumption.
I usually avoid it, just like I do commercials. I don't even like Fox News, because they aren't any more trustworthy than CNN or MSNBC.
shareAs far as I understand Fox is more conservative than CNN. I can not say much about MSNBC.
shareFox News has much in common with RINO's in the US govt: it's what people like to call, "Controlled Opposition." I've watched them a few times in the past, and they're as liberal as the day is long, but people don't recognize it anymore because classic liberals are so few in number these days. A good example is, they have more women reporting as news anchors than men, most notably women who aren't white. Sound familiar?
shareI like to check in on the weather, sports scores and some frightening political/war developments overseas.
Also, local crimes. It’s good to be aware of any bastards and criminals in your area.
But I don’t dwell on it nor comment much.
Well, sports is the exception 😉 above all on Mondays.
shareI try to stick to legitimate news agencies and not the sensationalized 24 hour outlets that vie for persistent attention.
shareThat’s fair.
The 24 hour news is a scourge, it drives a wedge between otherwise sensible people for no good reason.
Why should we be obsessing over scary North Koreans or that Vamparic looking prick Putin at two AM..?
Fuck it, it’s all nonsense.
' and not the sensationalized 24 hours outlets..." 👍
