Yay or nay to the use of the term "Xmas"?
I vote nay. It just looks stupid.
shareIt doesn’t bother me, I’ve been guilty of using it myself.
shareI have no strong feelings towards either and use them both freely.
share"The Greek word for Christ is Christós, and the first letter of Christós is Chi. In Greek, the word for “Christ” is Χριστός. Written in the Greek alphabet, Chi is essentially the same as the English letter Χ, according to YourDictionary.com. Over time, X became an abbreviation for Christ, and Christmas became Xmas."
Yea. I think it's cool to write Greek.
Nay. I understand it's not necessarily a "slam" against Christianity...but, the late, great Greg Lake and Pete Sinfield wrote the great song "I Believe In Father Christmas" (not "Xmas"). I just like seeing"Christmas" more than I do "Xmas"... just personal preference for me.
shareYeah, "Christmas" looks like a nice, complete, pronounceable word, whereas Xmas looks like someone count be bothered to check the spelling.
shareConsidering that Christmas is more a secular consumerist holiday now, I don't see a problem.
The quintessential Christian holiday has always been Easter. And the Easter Bunny is a pagan daemon.
I don't think it's a problem, I just think it looks dumb. It looks like it's trying to be cool.
sharei say definitely nay..
it be Christmas all the way.
