Do you still have face masks?
I just came across 4 unused ones in a drawer. I'm finally going to chuck them.
shareI just came across 4 unused ones in a drawer. I'm finally going to chuck them.
shareI got a lot of cloth masks from the VA hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic and I still have most stashed in a drawer somewhere. If we ever have to wear masks again I'm set.
shareYes but it's been unused for years. I'm considering throwing it away.
shareYeah, and thanks for the reminder.
I had forgotten I have 3 or 4 in the console of my car.
Been sitting in there for a long time now. I'm gonna chuck 'em today.
Seems like any time a mask issue comes up (last time I recall was a Doctors office visit about a year ago) - the office will provide fresh, brand new face masks. There doesn't seem to be any need to keep them handy in your car.
Although, I do have two in my office. I'll keep those just in case.
wont they be useful in some other non covid situation?
Some dusty DIY activity?
Nope.
Because face masks don't really work.
Zero percent effectiveness.
Doctors and surgeons are faking it.
Wood workers are faking it.
They don't help at all.
Covid was faked by mask makers and toilet paper companies for profit.
I was told this by a space alien hiding in area 51 and also reddit so it must be true.
I do and I'm keeping them. I had to sit in the emergency room with my daughter-in-law having a gallbladder attack several months ago and somebody was sitting nearby coughing up a lung. I was glad I had one.
shareGood point. But - on the other hand - wouldn't a mask become more dangerous if it is unused for months and months?
See, this is what I mean, as one said previously - I've got 3 or 4 masks in my car. They've been sitting there for probably two years now. It would seem to be dangerous to use them now.
I suppose it would be smart to always have a good clean mask handy. Because as you say, (its happened to me too) sometimes you're in a position in which someone around you is coughing. What I do now is cover my mouth with my hand and turn my head. Sometimes you get a dirty look, but hey, better than getting sick.
I don't think the one I wore would be dangerous. I took microbiology in college as part of a medical field degree so I felt pretty secure about it. And I didn't get sick. 😊
I will add that the mask I wore that night was one that I had been storing in its original box in a cabinet at home and grabbed on the way out the door knowing I was headed to the ER. One sitting out exposed to dust and dirt and allergens for years would be best thrown away.
Yeah, makes sense, thank you.
The ones I keep in my desk, they're encased in plastic - so, one would assume they would always be ok for use.
Agreed?
I had 4 in my car and they were (to use 80s lingo) grody. They are now resting comfortably in a garbage can.
I have a box in my house, a box in each of our cars and a fresh one in the pocket of every coat or jacket that I own.
I paid for these things, I’m going to damn well use them one day.
I have a big bag of them and I want to throw them out but the hoarder in me says, keep them just in case.
I remember not being able to find them.
For the record, I don't think they do jack shit.
