If you could attend any past concert...which one?

The Rolling Stones at Madison Square Garden, 1969

I'm not even the biggest Rolling Stones fan in the world but the recording of that concert is just awesome.

Top ticket price was $8.00.

The Doors - 1970 - Anywhere on Earth

One of those joints on Sunset Blvd.

I'd probably pick Cobo Hall 1970 -- my favorite Doors concert. I can see why they used that (and 2 other cities) for their live album.

reply

I have the Cobo Arena. Also Felt Forum, NY.
I'd love to have experienced the intimacy of a smaller venue like one of those legendary Sunset Strip joints.

PNE Coliseum - Vancouver, British Colombia 6/7/1970 would be my pick.

A lot of them.

Well, some standouts one would love to reattend....

Prince and the Revolution 1985 Purple Rain tour. OUtstanding. Several encores. When people thought he was done, the venue started emptying. When it was about half empty, the Revolution came out again, playing a couple more songs. It was incredible.

Plant and Page - 1995 tour. These guys were passed their prime by this point, but they still sounded great. Played all the great Led Zeppelin tracks - adding some terrific Indian flair to "Kashmir". A must see for any big fan of Zep.

Kiss 1996 reunion tour - The Reunion tour with Ace and Peter was just getting going so it was fresh, the entire band was up - really pushing it. Fantastic show.

Van Halen 1984 tour

reply

Yeah, saw it twice. Valerie came out at one of the shows.

VH was on top then.

reply

I agree with your pick. I would settle for any Rolling Stones concert really; they're one of the few bands I never got to see live.

Guns 'N Roses, during their Appetite for Destruction days, is another band I would go back in time to see live.

Also, I second mikethemartian: Van Halen during the Roth era for sure.

Willie Nelson 1978

reply

Funny you should pick that year, the only time I saw him live is when he opened for the Grateful Dead at Giants Stadium September 2, 1978

reply

I'm jelly as the kids say.

reply

Led Zeppelin around '74 or '75, when they really peaked, before Page really got too deep into his heroine addiction and Plant started losing interest.

reply

Top ticket price back then was $10, which even 50 years ago was not a ton of money, quite affordable...my how times have changed.

reply

One of the Beatles and one of Queen.

reply

Queen

reply

Right.

Beach Boys 50th Reunion Tour in 2012. I had no idea they would add so many deeper tracks to the set list besides surf and car classics. And that Brian Wilson would handle so many lead vocals. Really missed out on that one
