penguin is boring. i couldnt finish ep1. i think the most recent hbo show that's still good is white lotus. i think that show was in development before this new era though, it just aired in the new era but shows take years air.
edit: i forgot to comment on curb. i thought curb's first 4 seasons were funny when it aired but it was extremely dry. watching it again like 20 years later, it's too dry and the actors were too green. they haven't found their grove yet. by the later seasons with leon, it was insanely funny. so i'd say the latter seasons were better... all the way up to their hiatus. then once they came back, the show is a shell of its former self. it's like the actors are not mimicking themselves. it's so unnatural. it's just like how when you were a kid and you did some weird activity with friends and it was insanely fun. so you do it again later and somehow it just isn't and feels like you're pretending to have fun.

These scenes were primarily just to show Toranaga that he had great value to them as more than just a superficial prop. He was still used afterwards as a puppet by Toranaga for his political ambitions.
Also the other ship was primarily staffed by the Portuguese. It was a Portuguese ship. You present it as if both John Blackthorne and Rodriguez were commanding two Japanese crews.

shareThey still do! "Succession" was a great series which ended last year and deservedly swept the Emmy's. It was one of the best series I ever watched.
sharei really liked succession but it was only a stellar show in season 1-2. it was only watchable later. however, succession was developed years ago and that's why it's still good into this era. none of the shows coming out in 2024 are of the same caliber.
shareI found the entire series stellar, but to each their own. Some brilliant writing, acting and directing in season 4.
Plenty of great series now, but they're spreadout on different streaming platforms.
That's Streaming in general. Most TV shows are terrible. The good ones usually have 3 seasons before the hit a sprint or crap the bed.
What gets me is their older shows aren't around like they should be. I still can't find all of Deam On. That was hilarious.
money's all gone. hbo is no longer a prestige pay cable channel. HBO bought sold and bundled with endless cooperate mergers. all focus put forward into their garbage streaming service. and streaming services in general stealing their once captive audience. it ain't ever coming back. the name "HBO" become so meaningless they dumped it for "MAX"hardcore. HBO is dead and they deserve it for cancelling Carnivale.
