LGBTQ+ friendly stores, what does this mean?
LGBTQ+ friendly stores, what does this mean?
how is this designated, is there a chart with degrees of it or something?
what does it mean when a store says that?

Do stores that don't say that kick people out?
Seems weird
I imagine they sell things like this:

Duh, you think there are no businesses which refuse service to gay and lesbian customers?
We'd like to know before we walk in if we're gonna get some homophobic redneck assholes sneering at us. As far as I'm concerned they can keep us out if they want. But I'd like to know before I walk in there.
Supreme Court ruling allows businesses to refuse some services to LGBTQ+ customersshare

Couple honest questions for you here, OTB, and I admit I don't keep up on this stuff....
I'm sure it's nice to see that sign, but do you ever get afraid going into places without that sign?
I'm familiar with hateful people doing bad, but do many other businesses do bad? That would be very bad for them.
I know about the cake thing, but are there other businesses that reject lgbtq ? I mean other than all the religious folks that believe different.
PERSONALLY, of course I support the personal freedom and beliefs first.
If I ran a tattoo parlor and some one asked me to put a tattoo dick on someone, I would decline and make suggestions for some other tattoo place. The whole cake thing seemed so isolated. If they turned me down I'd just go else where instead of suing.
I live in redneckville, and there are places that will turn away those that may or may not present as a certain gender. A store that has a flag or something in the window lets people know that they can shop there without judgement or fear.
shareI live in hickville as well. No offense to you personally, but that sounds like BS. Have you experienced this yourself?
shareI have experienced it? No. I'm a female presenting CIS woman. But I have witnessed judgements in the past towards others.
shareI see, so you've never witnessed businesses turning customers away and refusing to accept their money over it?
shareI have seen a trans female unwelcome in a "woman's" clothing store.
shareI see. In that context an LGBTQ flag in a window makes some sense, since it lets them know that it's fine for a woman with a penis to have their measurements taken, be in close proximity to other women undressing, ask women their opinion about how something looks or match when their wearing it, and whatever else happens in those places.
That would sense in other places too, like massage parlors, waxing, beauty spas and so on.
Walmart where I live has only one set of fitting rooms that are used by anyone. I think Old Navy does too.
shareSame, though I don't think Walmart or Old Navy as companies would ever risk the negative publicity associated with rejecting someone in this context.
shareI guess I'm just wondering what your point is?
shareHmm, if there was a point here I suppose it's that I originally said your claim was BS, and in most circumstances it probably doesn't apply. But nonetheless, placing rainbow flags on certain types of businesses makes some sense, like a locally owned women's clothing store and whatever else was or wasn't mentioned.

sharewoman with a penis hahhahahahahah no such thing

No one knows I'm gay by looking at me. So I can go in the most redneck of establishments and it's no big deal. Now if I went in there with my boyfriend and grabbed his ass, I might be in trouble. But I wouldn't do that in a "gay" business either.
So for the most part I think it's unnecessary for businesses to put the rainbow flag in their window.
But it's a show of support for LGBT folks who face discrimination elsewhere. Nothing wrong with that.
As for the cake, I support the right of business owners to discriminate. And I'm against gay marriage anyway.
What if a hot chick wanted a dick tattoed on her ass? Would you do that?
No. I was going to be much more graphic with the tatoo suggestion to drive the point but refrained.
It's a matter of being forced to do something against your ideals.
I agree with you. I'd rather have real enemies than fake friends.
sharewhy is it enemies or friends?
If I went to the tire place and demanded they fix my transmission, and they said no, they wouldn't be friends or enimies... just business.
I'm referring to Christian bakers who want nothing to do with the gay "lifestyle", or any business which doesn't want to serve gay customers. If they don't want our business I won't give them my money.
shareright but how are they firends/enemies just doing business? dont givem your money, move on, no big deal
shareâAs for the cake, I support the right of business owners to discriminate. And I'm against gay marriage anyway.â
I agree to an extent. I mean, if a business had patronage from a convicted child killer I would support their right to refuse service. Queer people giving you the ick or commandments from whichever deity you pray to seem like bitch-move refusal reasons to me, but fairâs fair I suppose. If someone refused me service for any reason I wouldnât fight it myself, Iâd give them a polite fuck you and never shop there again.
Yeah gay marriage reform was a missed opportunity for queers. Could have been the perfect moment to create a union structure unique to lgbt, rather than copying, or awkwardly shoehorning us in on, an archaic heterosexual institution that has ever dwindling success rates for the straights anyway.
I would support civil unions for same-sex couples. That allows us to define the parameters. Marriage comes with rules about monogamy and sexual exclusivity. It effectively puts the state in our bedrooms.
The gay establishment is basically conservative and wants us to conform.
I mean unless a store openly discriminates against the alphabet people wouldnât that make them an âLGBTQZ+pka+log [Conjugate Base/Acid] friendly storeâ?
shareIt means they're like every other store but want to advertise that they like the gay.... in 2024... like that's something important or whatever.
