The nature of grief

I recently lost my companion of 20 years....and it goes without saying that I am devastated.
But I wonder if any of you know any films that you think deal with grief in a realistic but ultimately optimistic way.
The last thing I need is bleakness....or any films you would recommend as an escape.

On a side note ...one of our first dates was going to see "28 Days Later" but we were so high and talked all the way through so that we had no idea what it was even about. The other night I finally watched it. for the first time since.
It was pretty good.

You could try In A Lonely Place from 1950 with Humphrey Bogart.

Or Brief Encounter from 1945 with Celia Johnson.

I’d recommend a feel-good film, a Christian film or a comedy…

Deeply sorry to hear of your loss. I don't know that a film about the topic of grief would be the best medicine in this situation. Maybe you'd enjoy a healthy bit of escapism, like a thoroughly passable sci fi or adventure film.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I don't know any great movies about the loss of a significant other to recommend, but I just found this, if it helps. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me about movies can weigh in.

I can't think of a movie offhand but this beautiful young woman's incredibly poignant story that I've been following on YouTube immediately comes to mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZJvBfoHDk0. Simon Cowell has ranked her as the #1 best Golden Buzzer moment and has always gotten emotional (which he struggles to suppress) in any interview addressing her. It was revealed during her memorial service that AGT doesn't like original songs. You can actually see that reaction on the faces of judges Simon Cowell & Sophia Vergara during her introduction. Her simple, heartfelt original, "It's Ok", ironically garnered two Golden Buzzer moments.

I'm sorry you lost your partner. I cannot imagine how I would deal with it. Part of me wants to give up as well, but I would go on for my kid's sake.

Sorry for your loss. I hope you find some solace in talking about it here. My Life with Michael Keaton was an ultimately very positive movie in how his character and his wife (Nicole Kidman) handles his own impending death from cancer.

I'm truly sorry for what you're going through right now. I don't know what I'd do in your situation. I wish I could suggest a movie that captures the mix of loss and hope you're looking for, but unfortunately, I don't know of one. If I come across anything that might offer some comfort I'll share it with you.
