MovieChat still running slow

Jesus, it takes like a minute to load the site. I feel like it's 1998 and I'm on dial-up.

reply

Yup, first time it happened I figured it was just on my end.

reply

No.
It seems to be a system problem.

Hopefully it gets fixed.

reply

It has been sluggish for a few days. Everything loads slow. Does anyone know what's going on?

reply

TERMINAL DISEASE...SLOW SHAKY DEATH.

reply

It'll be cloud hosted so connection speeds to site will be top notch , we havent an explosion in traffic or anything to bottleneck it ,

So Imma guess database problems , getting low on space or needs reindexing or logs too big or something

reply

It seems to be OK now brah.

reply

Nope. Slow as shit for me.

Signed, million man.

reply

It’s not a good situation because there’s no longer a site owner interested in upgrading or solving technical problems. I get the feeling Mod5 holds this place together with duct tape and paper clips.

reply

That's what it looks like.

reply

Good description.

Someone must be in charge, who’s getting rich off the ad revenue?

reply

I've had no problems with the site.

reply

My guess is that it will grind to a halt and fully crash soon, and sadly it will be no more. 😒

reply

That's a sad thought. This is like the only place you can have real conversations with people.

reply

It's currently fast, but I've experienced the slow load times too

reply

It took nearly a full minute for me to to open my notifications, but when I posted a comment it was about only about 15 seconds.
Last night for a few hours it was working pretty fast like normal. It's kind of hit or miss.

reply

It's happening again on my end. Must be their server.

reply

Same here. It's still very slow for me. The worst part is submitting a comment, realizing you've made a mistake, and then having to edit it. You end up waiting 30-60 seconds for the initial submission to go through, another 30-60 seconds for the edit to process, and then another 30-60 seconds for the updated submission. It’s a real pain in the ass.

reply

Ugh, it's so annoying.

reply

Failing disk, bad sectors.

reply

That's an issue you might encounter if you were hosting it yourself on a physical server at home, but this site is probably hosted on a virtual server in a data center somewhere. Bad sectors on a disk drive are unlikely to be the problem since the infrastructure usually handles those issues automatically.
