Why is Star Wars so beloved?

I don't see where all the Star Wars love comes from. The movies were written for children, but mostly adults see them. I've seen all the movies only because a coworker recommended it. Why did it start so innocent and gradually get darker? The prerequisite to kill is simply to want it? Piece of cake. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the back story for the Clone Wars. The final battle was truly the lamest fight ever seen in Cinema. They were mostly dancing and avoided hurting each other.

Everyone just loves and adores Star Wars, but why?

probably cause of Yoda

There's your problem. You have to grow up with these films to truly understand them.

It's nostalgic

But I remember back in the day being awe struck by the visuals, the sense or large space ships, Darth Vader's shinny helmet

It has universal themes that have lasted for centuries. The hero's journey. Being one.
Then there's space, and for centuries people have always wanted to go into space.
There's also family. Han, Luke and Leia three different people from different walks of life, becoming a family.

There's lots more.

I was always much more of an original Star Trek fan but the original Star Wars movie was a big cultural event. The closest thing to it I remember was Jaws two years earlier.

Nice storyline, a lot of new planets, always amazing special effects, a lot of mystic, characters like Obi-Wan, Luke or Darth Vader and, of course, the music of John Williams....

I like Star Wars, not to the extent of some others, for example I have barely watched any of the Disney+ shows and my interest in new movies isn't that great though I'll still check them out of course.

The prequels came out when I was a kid, they were cool as hell when you're young. Lightsabers, the force, the alien species... it's just a wonderful sci-fi fantasy universe. Magical escapism.

I'll always have nostalgia for the OT & PT (I bought the OT on DVD when I was a kid). Honestly nostalgia is HUGE when it comes to liking things and for me and many others who loved the movies as a kid, you have a life long affection.
