I haven't listened to them in years but I recently heard one of their worst songs "Mr. Roboto" and it made me think of some of the better ones like

its a good song. its like 3 songs in one, which was unusual in the 80's.
but its a 1000 times better than any drivel made today.
Somebody a few years ago told me that that song/album killed the band.

shareSammy Hagar claims to have inspired Tommy Shaw to leave STYX when Shaw was at one of Hagar's concerts and he said he really appreciated the hard rock vibe Sammy put out on top of lighting a Trans-Am on fire on stage and diving off of it and he said it was unbelievable and that day, Shaw quit STYX and stated he wanted to do more of what Hagar was doing and less of the rock opera stuff. Hagar stated that once a band does the rock opera stuff, it's basically over for the band
