so many of the foods mentioned here from Britain weren't my experience there
As someone who has been here, you know that the OP is employing a stereotype about 'British cuisine' that is actually decades out of date. I meet North Americans here fairly frequently, because I live in tourist area. And one of the recurring conversations is about their surprise that the food is actually quite good here. So it's clearly a persistent idea... as is that one about us all knowing the King.
I'd also add that we have much higher food safety standards than the USA. Despite Brexit, we're still not taking their chlorinated chickens and other assorted bits of crap.
